300blk as only SBR

Ok, help me think a little through my insanity.

I have a 16" daniel defense, and a lower ready
For another legal length upper.

I purchased a complete DD mk18 and have since
Gotten rid of the upper for an AAC 9" blackout.
I love this cartridge and it’s potential, my can is on the
Way(should be outta jail in march).

I recently picked up a mk18 mod 0ish upper
And have had thoughts that maybe I’m unnecessarily
Duplicating myself with guns. Ideally the SBR in general
Is a sub 200yd gun and I feel 300blk could fill that role well,
The 556 as we all know suffers some velocity issues when you
Go shorter than 14.5" without special ammo considerations.
So I guess my ultimate question lies in, is it smart to choose a
Short barrel friendly round and just keep 16" 556 guns? Or is this
Just classic over thinking?

Sounds good to me… I am in the same boat. I have a 10.5" AR and I bought a 9" Blackout. I am in the process of converting my 10.5" to a 12.5" Those AAC uppers really are sweet.

I am in exactly the opposite boat. I have only one SBR and it is a 300blk. I would be more than happy with only this for serious use, but I intend to buy a Mk18 ish upper as a training tool for the BLK. If you already own the MK18 upper and arent using it there is no reason not to just set it in the closet, buy a stripped lower, and fill out the paper work. You wont be missing it and in 6mo you will have another usefull rifle. You will most likely appreciate that you didnt get rid of it later.

Some considerations.

What happens the next time family/friends want to go out to shoot? You are going to end up dropping $$$ in you 300blk inventory or be unable to locally purchase it if a quick group shoot happens(I end up footing the ammo cost almost every time I shoot with relatives and NEVER ask for reimbersment from new shooters that I take out).

At the end of the day I love 300blk, you seem to love 300blk, but in honesty both of us may be involved in a fling. It may work out, but as someone whe went 10mm years ago and now have gotten out of it, I will say that never get rid of the mainstream/common/cheap because you are currently enjoying something different.
