300 blackout

Hello all hope everyone had a great holiday… OK all hit me up with anything and everything on the 300 Blackout positive or negative… Iam looking into a new build but I want something with a little more punch… suppression is not a concern because I live in NJ also I am able to reload myself I know this is Avaiable in bulk or surplus. Want help would be greatly welcome… thanks guys…

If you do not plan on suppressing , then why 300 ? You had better search topic because I have a feeling that a whirl wind of 'use search feature" is headed your way.

I live in jersey myself and it sucks lol! Hudson county matter a fact anyways 300 AAC blk is a cool round but I skipped over it cause I couldn’t silence it, just stuck with my AK

I live in Kalifornia. I chose to build a 300 for a pig gun. As shots will be under 200 yards and built with in a 16" carbine I find that it would be a good round for what I am looking for. The things that sold me were the fact that the standard bolt, mags and everything but the barrel and the flash suppressor work for this build. People bitch about it not being as powerful as a 6.5 or 6.8 but it is near the power of a 30-30/7.62x39 in a light weight package. What is not to like. Nobody bitches about the 30-30 for hunting close in. The cost of the rounds suck but if you reload then there is no problem. No it is not an answer for everything but for a close in hunt it is a decent answer in a AR 15 chassis. 6.5 & 6.8 take proprietary mags and different bolts. Sorry but I do not need to stock more parts or magazines.
As for an unsuppressed rifle I think the 16" is just fine with no need to go longer. Think of it as a modern 30-30 and you should be happy with it.

Iam interested in the 300 because of ballistics. The fact that the round has more punch at closer ranges than the 556 makes it a little interesting. I like the fact of a heavier bullet traveling at a lower velocity in a shorter package would be a good HD choice.I would even think a heavy subsonic round would do more damage in a home defense situation. Kinda like the 45 acp vs 9 mm debate… like I said it would be nice to have something other than 223 to play with. I did try to do a search but it would hit on everything that had 300 BLK in the post… thanks for your help.and hello Bergen county Somerset here…lol

Exactly… prairiedog hit one of the points also the only thing I would ha e to change out would be the barrel… I did look into an ar10 but your looking at some change for the build…

I’m running a 16" DD upper with a Fortis Rev rail that I picked up here on the EE and love it for deer and home defense. IMHO, the things to consider are effective range (said to be less than 400 yards) relative to your use-case and ammo availability.
In your case, loading your own will prove to be invaluable and fun. I’m running the Hornady 125sst with 17.8 gr of h110 and am getting sub-moa groups all day long. Obviously you need to work up your own loads, but the nice part is that a pound of powder will last a long time with the 300 Blackout.

1st : Wrong part of the forum to post this
2nd : There is a gazillion threads in the 300blk just search it.

Spend some time searching the forum here : https://www.m4carbine.net/forumdisplay.php?10-Beyond-5-56-223

No reason to post up such generic questions, especially when there is a whole section on the forum dedicated to this kind of stuff. You should find positives/negatives, ballistics, and everything.

We have numerous threads and a section about 300 Blackout.

WOW sorry to have bothered you discreet… like I said before I did do a search but I didn’t want to waste time looking in the wrong spot. Iam sorry I wasted your time… after all this was just a general discussion about the BLK… as for the rest of you who answered without an attitude. Thanks…

No need to take it personal. Didn’t think I had an attitude either. I just pointed out the extremely obvious. If you did a search for just “blackout” you would have seen 11 pages of results. Most regarding 300blk.

I also took the time to link you to the appropriate forum section to help you out.

Like said, you will find boat loads of info on here about 300blk, you just gotta take the time to sort through it and read, rather than expect everyone else to do the work for you just because your new.

Yes I got the link and thank you was just looking for a push in the right direction… oh lots of threads so I will be quite busy… sorry I took your comments as attitude. Thanks for the help…
