.300 aac barrels

I am currently building a .300 blackout SBR upper I have every thing but my barrel as of now. My question is the two barrels i have been able to find in this climate are

Cmmg wasp 12.5’’ in 1:7 twist or
Wilson combat 11.5’’ stainless steel in 1:8 twist

I plan on running this upper suppressed and unsuppressed with subsonic and super sonic ammo. Which barrel is better? Which barrel is better? Which barrel will have more longevity. Neither of these barrels are what I had originally planned on using but finding an AAC barrel in this climate is near impossible.

I have the WC 11.3" and it has proven accurate and reliable both suppressed and unsuppressed with subs and supers.

“If you’re gonna be dumb you gotta be tough”

I have an AAC upper, but my range buddy built his upper with the WC and there is little/no difference between the two

I pieced together a 300 last year. Took almost a year then waiting for the right parts. Most of that time was finding a barrel. Finally lucked into a AAC 9". Just either find what you can or wait for the barrel you want, plenty of good barrel(manufacturers) out there. Just not a lot of barrels.

I would go 1/7 twist. AAC’s original twist rate was 1/8 and then went 1/7.

Have you tried Gun broker for barrels? You may pay $50.00 dollars more, but you will get what you want.

Yeah I have been on gun broker but I keep finding dms barrels ar- stoner or green mountain barrels

Green Mountain 5.56 barrels are gtg. Been installing them in uppers for over two years and never had a complaint with them.

(installed about 35)

Don’t have any experience with their .300 AAC barrels yet. You could do a lot worse. (ie, AR Stoner )

Hillerika,

What do you estimate the cost to be, less tax stamp and suppressor?

Never having owned or built an SBR, pardon my duffer question, but can you build this while waiting for the stamp? I guess that’s stamps: 1 for SBR, 1 for suppressor, right?

You can build the upper but cannot put it on a lower (unless it is a pistol lower).

I Have an AR Stoner 300 Blk lightweight barrel. It is the most accurate barrel/rifle I own.

I purchased the Cmmg 16", 1/7 barrel in November of 2012 and have been very happy with it. I was a little leary of the WASP nitride coating, but so far (low round count) no issues.

That being said, I feel that you can’t go wrong with the Wilson or any other name brand. You’ll pay for them, but you’ll have a quality barrel.

Technically speaking most would favor the 1/7 twist, but search out the subject and you’ll find a ton of info and opinions out there to help you make a decision.

Just a follow up, I ended up ordering the Wilson combat barrel, I’am currently waiting for it to hit my hands they are saying I am 36 deep on the backorder.

Neither of those.

I would get a 10" noveske barrel.

You’ll find Noveskes out there. I have’nt seen them under $300. Great barrel, but would ssve that amount for accuracy not an Sbr.
