Last night we were setting in the yard on our gay swing thing (my wife loves this) and my daughter noticed a big hairy beast on the brick under the porch slab. I had to take pics, I never have seen a moth? this damn huge. This is a terradactyl! This thing is hairy from head to tail and even the wings are hairy.
It is actually kind of pretty, but the size gives me the hee-bee-jee-bees!
We have seen those (or something that looks like those) around our gardens. They move their wings very quickly like hummingbirds. In fact, I assumed they were hummingbirds until I looked more closely.
You need to either ship it to Japan or move, whatever you do, do not attempt to make friends with it. That moth species comes from the Western Pacific, it’s species name is:
[3] And out of the smoke [hairy moths] came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. [4] They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. [5] They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man. [6] During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.
I did not see it fly, we went to bed and he was still chilling on the porch where we noticed him.
He did not seen afraid of me, when I accidentally touched him, he lifted up that side and turned to watch my finger a bit… but he held his ground.
My son REALLY wanted to get his BB gun and kill it. I stopped him from doing that. I don’t really like killing things for fun and I am sure that we were NOT going to be eating this monster!
It was “pretty” I guess, but a bit scary at teh same time! This is the first one I have seen in my town in the 38 years I have been here.
The other thing we are seeing this year is some huge black shiny beetle things with big old pincher looking things. I’m talking 2-4 inch long man eating beetles. Beetles that if you try and step on them… they grab your foot and throw you for a submission hold!

advertisementA greedy developer has placed huge machines to suck dry a part of the ocean near Tokyo so he can put luxury condos there. After a storm, a giant egg washes up on the beach nearby and is immediately put on public display. The developer’s plans go awry when he disrupts Godzilla’s rest and the monster goes stomping through Tokyo again. It’s up to the elderly Mothra, and then to its two offspring, to save Tokyo from destruction. Written by Molly Malloy {mailcall@bluemarble.net}
A hurricane blows Mothra’s egg off Infant Island and causes it to drift to Japan. Banzo Torhata sees an opportunity to make money off the egg but Mothra’s twin priestesses show up and plead with him to return the egg or else the larva will hatch and cause great damage in search of food. Torahata refuses and tries to kidnap the fairies. They then go to reporters Ichiro Sakai and Junko Nakanishi to try to persuade Torahata to return the egg. Torahata still refuses and the girls leave with the adult Mothra. In the meantime Godzilla reawakens and begins another rampage. Japan’s only hope is for Mothra to return and not only save Japan, but her egg as well. Written by Brian Washington {Sargebri@earthlink.net}
