For that reason I will be researching on my PC about some rifles and whatnot.
I am currently looking at an AR to buy and just saw an add for a Sig Saur m400srp that was at a good price.
I’ll do my research and keep looking around.

then your price range. a few hours of reading and research on this site will help you make the best choice.

There are a lot of knowledgable people here who you can learn a lot from if you go about it the right way. A lot of basic AR knowledge is stickied to the various forums and repetition of common questions here is usually locked pretty soon.
The best advice I can give you, based on personal experience, is to read as much as you can on this site, and plan out your purchase or build for a while before you actually take the plunge. Save money, don’t skimp and try to cut corners, and check out what most of the site sponsors have to offer. If they are a site sponsor here, then more than likely they offer quality rifles and parts. I can vouch personally for Grant at G&R. He helped me iron out some details on getting my BCM lower to my FFL quickly and professionally.

The SIG M-400 SRP looks like a nice rifle. Direct impingement, 1X7 barrel, chrome lined… same features as every other quality weapon. You probley already know the SRP has no sights so you’ll need to invest in them right off the bat. A quality set will run anywhere from $100 for MBUS to $200 for Troys. The M400 Classic, SWAT and Weld all have A2 fronts and carry handle rears. If you move up to the “Enhanced”, you’ll save yourself the trouble as the rear is a flip down and the front is a fixed A2 style. I like the SIG’s and the standard features they come with. Ambi mag release, rear receiver sling mounts. It’s a good no-frlls way to get into the AR world. Also, Walmart sells them for a damn good price. Good luck.

I think it is very hard to beat a BCM 16" midlength carbine. If you want something without a Front Sight base (FSB), Grant can take care of that as well.
I’m not a fan of the Sig with the 1913 gas block, I would rather chop a FSB than play with that.
If you let people know what you were looking to do with the weapon, and what your end goal was to have it look like, we could probably give you better recommendations. That being said, the above linked BCM middy is solid to build into just about anything.
It will be extremely hard to get a better deal than this.

There are a lot of personal preferences that you are going to have to get straight on your own when purchasing a new rifle. I can give you what I prefer and why but that is about it.
The brands that I have no problem paying good money for:
LMT
Noveske
LWRC
There are other good manufacturers but these are the ones I prefer. The LMT MRP has an incredible lock up between the upper and lower. It is both accurate and reliable and well worth the money IMO. It does have a proprietary barrel which kinda sucks but the fact that you can swap barrels in less than 5min is a really cool feature.
LWRC makes really good stuff… the NiCorr treatment they do works very well and I have had good success with their advance combat bolt. The piston is extremely reliable and can go 10k rounds between cleanings. You are going to have a little more weight up front due to the bulkiness of the piston over the DI’s gas tube. The one I have is a 6.8 PSD so it only weighs about 7.5lbs but its a really short weapon.
I don’t own BCM or Noveske at the moment but I have used a lot of Noveske barrels.

As far as barrel length, if you don’t go the SBR route, I prefer the 14.5". I like shorter barrels personally and can tell a big difference between the feel of a 14.5 and a 16. This may be different for you. I do not care all that much about the muzzle device, I find a quality one (that isn’t too expensive since you are not going to be able to reuse or resell it) and I pin it. If you have a suppressor that isn’t QD, you might not want to do this… if you have one that is QD i’m sure you know to match the muzzle device with the suppressor.
:blink: I don’t know much about PSA, but that seems like a heck of a deal. The PRO is $400 on it’s own… If you’re looking for a way into the AR world, I would definitely suggest this.
