I have never shot farther than a few hundred yards and I decided I want to try and shoot at some longer ranges with my 270WIN. I planned on trying some of the 150gr Nosler Accubond Long Range bullets but a lot of the reviews I read about them said they weren’t really very good. I’m not shooting at game or competing, I just want to ring steel at ranges between 500 and 1000 yards for the fun of it. Does anybody have any bullet suggestions? Maybe the 150gr Hornady SST?
My dad worked up some pretty good loads we still use for the 270. The loads are all tuned to his rifle, however I use them to hunt as well. Check out this video of it and the loads are talked about in last half about.
Nice rifle! I am also shooting a older Model 70. I didn’t see anything in the video about the bullet used other than the fact that they were Nosler of some sort.
More than likely custom competitions. They are noslers answer to the matchking. Any .277 diameter hpbt should do good. Nosler, sierra, hornady, or speer. Anyone of those companies in a weight you lime should be fine.
Any of the match bullets from major manufacturers should work.
Nosler Accubond Long Range,
Hornady Amax, or BTHP
