I use 23.5gr H4895/CCI450 with the 75gr BTHP, shoots great.
I never used the AMAX because of length restrictions but I recall seeing a picture of a magazine with the front cut out of it to accommodate the AMAXs semi-automatically, I’ll try to find the pic or more info.
For a 75gr bullet I use the Prvi Partizan 75gr BTHP-Match bullet with 25.3gr of BL(C)2 powder with a coal of 2.24.
Here’s a pic of a bullet that I fired into a cardboard box that contained a water filled trash bag. My “experiment” failed miserably and all I recovered was the lead core.
As you can clearly tell by the pic, eventhough the bullet is a “match” bullet it had excellent expansion. I fired is round from my 16.5" barreled shorty from 35’. I need to do a test at 100 yards.
According to Dr GK Roberts, the Prvi 75 grain BTHP is not an expanding projectile. It yaws and then fragments.
Terminal Ballistic Properties of Prvi Partizan 75 grain OTM
Thanks to the efforts of the esteemed Dr. G.K. Roberts, we now have some excellent information on the terminal ballistic properties of the Prvi Partizan 75 grain OTM load. The same lot of Prvi Partizan 75 grain OTM ammunition that Dr. Roberts used in testing had a nearly identical velocity when I chronographed it from a 16" Colt barrel.
