69 gr Nosler HPBT loaded over 23.4 gr IMR 8208 and fired from 19.5" AR with Surefire FA556AR silencer into calibrated 10% gelatin.

BB: 592.2 fps, 3.3"

Impact velocity: 2,743 fps
Penetration: 13.1"
Retained weight: 26.9 gr
Max expansion: 0.557"
Min expansion: 0.375"

That will certainly let the air out of an unwanted visitor.

Agreed. That is more penetration than the Sierra bullet, IIRC.

Another great test, Andrew. Thank you, sir.

Awesome test.

I do have to say, that is quite a long neck… far from optimal. Still looks to be a decent performance.

Agreed and I wonder how much neck length corresponds to jacket thickness and/or strength.

Also, Andrew I’ve been reading some impressive things about the Sierra 77gr tipped match king. It apparently fragments radially and it doesn’t require any yaw to initiate fragmentation. I wonder if you could maybe procure a few for testing?

I didn’t measure the neck, but based on the photo, it looks like it was about 2". The block is 14" long across the middle. I’ll be sure to measure the neck length in future rifle tests.

I’d be happy to test it, if I find any but I’d bet that if Doc hasn’t done it already, he will soon and I’d trust his results over my own any day.

Mr Wiggin have you by any chance shot or done any testing on remingtons .223 62 gr bonded PSP hypersonic ammo? They claim i believe a 3262ish muzzle velocity but do not give any info the weapon type or specs to achieve those results. All my rifles have colt SOCOM profiled 14.5, 1:7 barrels in them. I do not have access to a chronograph so it would be intersting to know more approximatly the velocities atleast from a 14.5 chrome lined 1:7 barrel. I know ammo lots and different bbls in general are all factors but interesting non the less. Thanks for any imput you might have. Keep up the good work.

I have not tested it yet but I’ll keep an eye put for it.

Roger. Thanks again.
