First of all, I don’t reload anymore…want to get back into it, but will wait for the panic to die…
That said, I was at the gunshow in Kansas this weekend. There was of course all your overpriced stuff (LWRC M6A2? for $3800), but for the most part, I noticed most of everyone’s items for sale may have been overpriced a bit, but considering the climate, not too bad (Colt 6920 for $1800, not $2500 for example).
That has absolutely nothing to do with brass, so I’m back on track now. Again, I don’t reload, so I don’t know if this is good or not…$187/1K once fired, cleaned, unprimed. I think it’s a good deal based off of what I’ve seen the prices for at my local Cabelas (of which they are out of stock).
If anyone is interested, PM me and I’ll give you the guys contact information…don’t want to post publicly in case I’m breaking some kind of “rule”.
For perspective, almost exactly a year ago I bought 500 once fired .223 for $30 including shipping. It was cleaned but I had to resize/deprime myself. For everyone who has a time machine back to the past I highly recommend it.
You can find processed .40 brass for $40/k without primers. The price you show includes a $80 surcharge for 1k primers, so unless you can’t find primers for less than that, I’d say it’s a terrible price.
The guy saying he pays 50 per k is a great price, and not the norm. The 187 is very expensive, but in this climate it might be all you find. If you break it down by the loads you will get out of it. It makes it seem a little better but not much. Your the only one that can decide if it is worth it to you.
556 brass is not going to give you more velocity. People say that 556 brass has thicker walls giving it less volume is not true. There webs are slightly thicker. If you look at water volumes of cases they are all very close, and very by manufacturer. They do moth vary due to being 223 or 556.

This shows h20 capacity. This is one of many lists that exist. All of them show case capacity is roughly equal. A tenth of a grain is not much. Your talking a few granules of powder.
You will always be able to get brass. Its not getting banned wait it out or look for better price you will find it cheaper.
Got most of my brass free- thanks to nonreloaders! Thanks again keep piling it high! Then I only bought brass factory ammo. I’ll never have to worry about brass for as long as I live!
I wish I had the option of picking up brass like they were weeds. Unfortunately I literally have to compete with old men shuffling back and forth all day picking it up in old grocery bags to take to the scrapper.
