Thoughts on the best 22 suppressor? in this case it would be a dedicated 22 only can so multi caliber isn’t a factor.
Looks like the silencerco warlock or aac pilot could be top contenders

SWR Spectre 2 or Silencerco Sparrow are my favorite
AAC Element and SilencerCo Sparrow are what I use.
O
Sparrow looks best for multi caliber, and but the warlock and pilot are much lighter and supposedly work just as well for 22, and cheaper.
I have an AAC pilot 2. Its light and I’ve put at least 5,000 rounds through it without cleaning and it’s still very quiet.
Pilot and Warlock are very quiet but I prefer the Spectre for its all stainless construction. I went cheap and bought an all aluminum can and the lesson learned was that even though its user serviceable its a pain in the butt to clean unless I bead blast the baffles which is a pain in itself. I’ve never seen the extra weight as an issue.
My Warlock II is in jail still.
If I would have had the cash, I would have done a Sparrow, but if I had the cash at the moment, I would have gone Spectre for the SS. It was still really LW.
Spectre is the best one right now.
SS Sparrow or Spectre are tops. I went with the SS Sparrow and don’t regret it one bit.
In the 22 realm, my only real preference was that it be user serviceable…for obvious reasons. To me, the Huntertown Arms Guardian line seemed like great values at $149 and $199 (stainless at $199). I really can’t justify spending $4-600 on a rimfire can. I’ve heard a number of the less expensive cans in person and can’t hear a difference between them and the ones that cost twice as much.
I got tired of waiting on the HTA cans and bought a used Thompson Zephyr XL for $100 a week ago. My class3 has worked with Thompson Machine a lot and is very impressed both with their product and customer service. They seem like another good buy, in the mid $200s for the Zephyr models.
I have and like either extreme on .22 RF. I like the lightweight aluminum cans, sometimes I just don’t want the extra weight, and I’ll accept the fact that the life of the can is fairly short. I can order and get transferred another one before the other one is trashed. I also like the heavier all stainless takedown cans for the long service life they have, but there is a weight and sometimes size penalty. I don’t see having both styles being a bad idea. That being said though, if its a 1 time NFA purchase, get a good stainless takedown can.
I have a Stainless Sparrow and love it, for use on Rifles. It is built like a tank, but also weighs-in as one of the heavier Rimfire Suppressors on the market. For a first-time owner I think this is good, though: it won’t lock-shut if you neglect to clean it.
IMO, Putting a suppressor on a Pistol is a novelty that quickly wears-off, too heavy for my tastes (makes the pistol very muzzle-heavy). I’m currently waiting on a AAC Element 2, that’s the lightest Rimfire can I can get that is still all-Stainless. when I get this then I’ll have the Element as a lighter suppressor to use on my pistols while my Sparrow stays on my Rifles.
(I use ultrasonic cleaning, so didn’t want to go with AL materials).
Dragging this one up. Looking to buy a .22 can. Sparrow is currently at the top of my list, due to steel construction and reported ease of dis assembly. My dealer is pushing the TacSol Cascade TI. And the distributor said his favorite is the YHM Stinger. Any thoughts on the Cascade or Stinger?
I would go w/the Spectre II or Sparrow. In that order.
I woukd find another dealer. He’s pushing why he has in stock.
^This^
I have the sparrow in possession and specter II in transfer. Go to a different dealer and buy right once.
I wouldn’t buy either of those for a first .22 can
If you need to be extremely quiet because of neighbors or whatever,
The AAC element is the best due to no " first round pop"
If you don’t need that extra degree of quietness on the first Few shots, the silencerco sparrow is almost as quiet, and much more easy to keep clean.
I went with the element because I do not want to alert my neighbors to my tree rat and crow culling.
The Sparrow is my first choice. I was just looking for info on the Stinger and Cascade. So Sparrow it is. Now I have to get everything threaded. I see this being another money pit. ![]()
Ease of disassembly and cleaning is the most important.
Exactly why I suggested the Spectre II first. Once open the stack just falls out no matter the round count and reassembles just as easy. That and the Spectre II has no FRP as compared to the Sparrow plus it’s about $80 less from most places. Neither one breaks the bank so that’s not a huge factor but if it does all of that better and is less expensive…
