Not sure if we have mentioned this here, but it deserves its own thread.

I am a big fan of the .22 clones since my kids love em and Mom likes em too. They are fun guns and nothing more…

So, this new one from Austria caught my attention:

Available in May, 2010, shooters will welcome ISSC’s Modern Sporting Rifle MK22, the first rifle to incorporate military-style handling into a modern sporter that performs equally well on the range of the great outdoors.

Equipped with either a 22-shot or 10-shot magazine and folding or fixed stock, the MSR MK22 performs flawlessly with all types of 22LR ammunition and is accurate at both close-range and target-range distances.

The MSR MK22 can be aimed either with its integral folding sights or you can attach any kind of aiming device to the Picatinny rails that come standard on all sides of the barrel.

I looked into one of these, the price a couple of dealers in Alaska quoted me was $700.00, they do look nice! and the gemtech outback II will fit right on it. :smiley:

Very interesting. Hopefully it’s closer to M&P-15-22 quality than to the Colt-22…

They were showing this prototype at the SHOT media day this year. It was funny how the guy kept telling us that it’s NOT a SCAR clone. I wonder how long they can delay lawsuits. He wouldn’t let anyone shoot the prototype, but did demonstrate it.

Agreed. I’m curious if it has a functional BHO like the M&P-15/22

I think I’d prefer a .22LR conversion kit for the M16S, but until someone decides to do that, this rifle would be a good alternative.

Lawsuit should be pending, since none of the FN reps knew about it and people were asking questions (release date/MSRP) about it to them.

the outside looks like a scar but everything else dont being designed for .22lr…maybe that’s what he meant

I really like this. I wonder how their customer service is. I also wonder in their product is compatable with other .22lr mags on the market. if the answer is yes to the above i will have one.

I would like to have one too! The FN rep that visits the shop told us that they squashed this .22. I hope he is wrong.

Another .22 trainer would be cool for my kids and me.

On one hand I can see why big time companies like FN and HK wouldnt want small, no-name companies making .22LR clones of their guns, but I kind of wish they would just leave them be.

HK fucked over ATI/GSG, lets hope FN doesnt screw this little no name company either.

Have one in hand. The sights are pretty slick, has flip ups and in the down position are like pistol sites. The magazine is very sturdy and locks in place with no play at all. Does not drop free, but not sure I would dot hat with a .22 mag anyway since I wouldn’t want to damage that feed mechanism. Stock has 3 positions, cheek weld is different from the SCAR.

Gun feels very solid, barrel is a good chunk of metal, definitely not the pencil thin shrouded barrels I see in my GSG5. I am looking forward to shooting this week. Will post pics/details after range time. I dropped a Vortex Strikefire on it for an optic, but I plan on shooting with the open sights as well.

Would not be surprised if FN gets their way on this, sitting next to a SCAR you can definitely see the similarity.
