My friend Dangerous Dave says he has shot into outer space with his 22 magnum rifle… I have my doubts that it’s possible, but thought I would ask here before telling him it can’t be done. He says the higher the bullet goes the faster it goes due to decreased gravitational pull, and once it breaks free from the gravitational pull there is nothing to slow it’s ascent… What do you think ?
Sounds like you should watch your friend Dave very very closely. Bullets don’t have rocket motors attached to them.
Show me someone who claims to have a small-arm that can hit Escape Velocity and I’ll show you a blatant bullshitter. Probably as educated as “Won’t Guam Tip Over?” Hank Johnson or “Will The Mars Rover Be Able To See The Astronauts’ Flag?” Sheila Jackson Lee, too.
Yeah escape velocity is 25,020 miles per hour, don’t know what that is in FPS but don’t think 22 magnum gets there. Oh wait looked it up 25,029 mph = 7 miles per second = 36,960 FPS.
Op your friend is an idiot
