.22 dedicated upper

First off I did use the search function, Second didn’t find the info I was looking for so here goes. If you were going to buy a .22 dedicated upper which one would you buy? I have been looking at cmmg and Chiappa. But there may be others I don’t know about. I would like to stay under $400.00.

go with the cmmg in that price range. Or if you want a very light weight/accurate build for a little bit more you can get the Taccom setup. They sell an upper for around 450 I think. That is probably your best bet.

I’m saving for a Nordic design upper. So my options are either the Nordic NC22 or a DPMS AP4 22LR.

Bolt designs are the closest you can get to a Ruger 10/22 bolt in an AR. The bolts are probably identical because Nordic Components team was onboard for DPMS’s 22lr design.

I’ve read nothing but good things about them. It’s actually that I haven’t read a whole lot of bad about them. Before I buy a firearm, I google the firearms title followed by the word ‘problems’ and see if there’s too many complaints, what the complaints are, and if I can get around it.

There will always be problems, even tier 1 weapons fail intermittently, but it’s the frequency that I look for.

So anyways, I’ve read that NC22 or DMPS 22 are great mount and go uppers for $399-$425.

Build your own

Do most dedicated 22lr uppers basically have a CMMG conversion style bolt with a 22lr barrel?

Yes for the most part they all use the Atchisson style bolt

I went around in circles trying to decide which dedicated .22LR upper to get. In the end I went the same route as wahoo95 and built my own. It wasn’t as cheap as some of the factory options but I got EXACTLY what I wanted and I couldn’t be happier with it. I am using a CMMG bolt in my upper and it has been good so far. I have no experience with the Nordic uppers, but I have used a lot of their stuff on my shotguns and it has served me very well.

that`s an awesome .22 caliber sbr!

As an alternative to CMMG you might look at these guys product.

I’ve purchased complete uppers and barrel/bolt components from them several times over the years and have always been happy with the end product.

Tactical Solutions, or Nordic Systems - price be damned.

Built mine with a TacSol upper, as Nordic was JUST coming on the scene, and wasn’t I familiar with it, by the time I’d committed to TacSol a couple years ago. My TacSol has run over a thousand rounds without a hiccup, but I would consider the Nordic as well, if building one today.
