2015 SHOT Show 300BLK News?

I wasn’t able to attend SHOT this time and I’m curious about 300 Blackout developments for the year ahead. I know we have the SIG MCX hopefully headed our way as well as a factory rifle from Colt. Remington Defense may or may not be selling some version of the AAC Honey Badger as well as AR’s in a more standard pattern.

Is there anything else that’s a “must have” out there? What about ammo and accessories?

TIA!

Here’s something new from SIG. The production guns are shipping with a keymod forend from Geissele, if the Internet reports are correct.

Note the 1X5" twist rifling.

A bit of info on the 16" MCX.

Kimber came out with a bolt action. Stag has an AR. Adams Arms came out with 300 BLK pistons. Tactical Innovations has an upper. Colt rifle. Sig rifles, pistols, and ammunition. Many Rock River rifles and pistols. Dillon 1050 300 Blackout Toolhead. Windham rifles. Was hoping to see subsonic 300 BLK ammo that functions like subsonic pistol ammo in regards to expansion. Early results of the new Nosler/Noveske subs show poor expansion and jacket separation. Maybe Remington will give us a design similar to the Golden Saber pistol design or even the classic Core-Lok design that expands well at subsonic values.

LeHigh has some stuff. But yeah, nothing yet exactly for what you are hoping for. It is a much harder problem than pistol ammunition because there is less frontal area to initiate expansion, and there is more mass so there is more penetration.

Dang that is fast, wonder if the website is correct??

Here’s to hoping for more ammo production and pricing to come down. I know that’s probably a long shot.

I was hoping we’d hear about Prvi Partisan or Tula bringing some inexpensive import ammo to market.

Its from ALG Defense, Geissele’s sister outfit. They now have that rail on their site.

Barnes did announce 90 grain zinc-core ammo.

And this Magtech stuff is supposed to be released by Privi: http://www.tactical-life.com/gear/magtech-300-blackout-ammo/

Handi-rifle is 1:7 with a 16" barrel, 1:5 with a 9" barrel makes sense to stabilize those long 220gr subs.

Good god what is this? Did Sig actually think this was a good idea?

This looks like someone opened a box of gimmicky goodies and bolted together a garage build with the parts nobody else wanted. An iconic image that shows what too much of a good thing looks like…

That was the theme of Sig all around this year. Everything looks like it was designed for call of duty players.

Maybe it’s part of their iTac series.

At least we know who is buying Jesse James’ guns. Maybe Sig can paint it gold or silver for an extra $100 and it will look like a prop from one of those old porno movies from the 80’s where the theme was based on the idea that we would all be living in moon colonies.

But looking at the parts used I suspect this would be from the kind of skinematic feature where the girls never show up…

Cabela’s shows the MCX pistol with both a 30BLK and 5.56 barrel on their website. I assume the Cabela’s price is MSRP or close to it.

I find it interesting that SIG is using a 1X6 twist across the board for the MCX but a 1X5 twist on the 9" DI pistols.

Anyway, I haven’t seen an MCX yet but from the pics online it looks pretty similar to what RRA has done with their piston upper. They cut the tail end of the bolt carrier off and then attached the recoil spring to the gas key so the it extends out over the barrel. This allows the action to reciprocate without the need for a receiver extension. I liked the RRA I had but it seems a bit “prototypish.” A good idea but one not quite fully thought out and ready. Hopefully the SIG will be more refined.

Looks like a pretty decent AR pistol to me, minus the ugly SIG brace.
