2013 Magpul AK products!

Can you find $30 pmags?

Were probably going to see the MOE AK forearm systems in the future and as far as AK mags go I think were going to see a Magpul stamped smooth back AK mag before we see a Pmag version. IMHO maybe they will shed off the lack of shock and awe over that last few shot shows and actually bring a working Quad stack mag to the market. I just want some Ranger Plates for my Chinese and Bulgarian ((10)) mags.

Irrelevant. Bulgarian mags are not imported in enough quantities to satisfy even 5% of demand. The demand is there.

Please make some nice handguards Magpul, and don’t forget us Yugo M70 guys!!

This and they are over $40 a mag now.

If Magpul made AK Pmags, they’d never keep them in stock. A lighter-weight, equally-reliable and durable alternative to the generic steel AK mags… cap it at $20/mag and prepare to open another fab plant.

US Palm’s AK30 debuted higher than surplus steel and new Bulgarian waffles at $30 a mag, now they are cheaper when you can find them. :frowning:

There is absolutely a market for US made polymer AK mags that are not from the likes of Tapco or Pro-Mag.

It would be nice if they offered both 7.62x39 mags and 5.45x39

That would be awesome if they did.

While I agree that with the current market it makes no sense to tool up for a new AK mag, but once this dies down (provided there is no ban) an AK mag is a no brainer. Currently Magpul has 0% of the market share on AK Mags. IF they can make a reliable mag for $20 they will take a huge slice of the market, and the demand is there.
The arguement that they shouldn’t bother since someone else makes a good mags makes no more sense than Chevy shouldn’t make a truck since Ford already does. As long as there is demand the market can support nearly unlimited manufactures of good products.

I would be perfectly happy if magpul make a 5.45 mag for an AR that didn’t suck balls completely. That is the real limitation to the 5.45 AR uppers IMO.

If they make an ak mag they cant just do a 7.62 they will have to do a 5.45 also

I just want them to make Swiss-pattern AK mags…ie SIG 550/551/552/553 mags.

Omg, that would be so cool to have their window on the AK mags. MAGPUL PAY ATTENTION TO THIS THREAD!! THIS IS WHAT YOUR CUSTOMERS WANT!!!

If they make a reliable $20 AK PMAG, they’ll own the market. Between the mag and a US-made FCG, that would take care of all your 922R problems. They’d weigh less than a steel Combloc mag and be more resistant to denting/damage. They’d be cheaper and more available than Bulgy Circle 10s. They’d outperform the Tapco and ProMag crap nine ways to Sunday. If they made a 20-rounder for my underfolder too, I’d fall in love.

Seems like a huge market opportunity.

AK mags would have to go up in price a lot for magpul to make AK mags. When AK mags were $10 theres no point in making them

Bulgarian factory circle 10 thirty round mags have been north of $40 for some time now. Even the cheap KCI (Korean) steel mags are going for $30+ now.

Heck, I say split the difference, gimme a 25rd mag.

The Hungarian “tanker mag” can actually hold 25rds, if you cut some coils on the spring. The spring is the same as a 30rd mag. The only real 20rd mag are those expensive ChiCom ones.

Paul Gomez and I were in the early stages of designing a 25rd mag for a company in the US. Unfortunately Gomez passed away and our contact at the company we were working with has moved on.

If they do make a mag, I think it should be dissassemble-able. Not what the US Palms were
