20" beauty

I’m finally done…for now. It needs a sling, a light, and an optic somewhere down the road.

For anyone wondering, the bag is a Maxpedition Gleneagle.

Then I’m going to build a 16"

Specs:

Lower:
-CMMG lower
-Spikes Tactical Enhanced Lower Parts Kit
-Stag A2 Stock
-Magpul BAD lever

Upper:
-Spikes Tactical A4 upper receiver
-Bravo Company Manufacturing 20" Government-Profile barrel
-Midwest Industries SS12 rail
-Daniel Defense F/A Bolt Carrier
-LMT Fixed Tactical Rear Sight
-Magpul MBUS2 Front Sight
-Vortex flash hider

By the way, I’m feeding it from 20 round Lancer L5 AWM’s, A+ rating so far. Takes a smack to seat a full one on a closed bolt, but I think that’ll change as time goes on.

Just weighed it, 7lbs 8oz with an empty magazine. What does 20 rounds of 5.56 weigh?

I’ve got 40 rounds through it, so far. I’m in love :dirol:  :):dance3:

I like the the clean looks of the MI rail. Goes well with the 20". Nice build overall!

The 20" I am building is a plain Jane for CMP matches and testing handloads with a scope. Pretty much going with a carry handle for irons at CMP matches and a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 for the handload testing and just long range plinking fun. Thought about getting a more powerful scope just for targets, but I want to keep it somewhat practical for field use in case I get a chance to hunt coyotes or other varmints.

very nice! looks like the one ive been putting together this past month except i got a PRS and went with the SS15 rail instead

Thanks for the comments. Down the road, I might have Adco chop this to 18" and flute it in the name of light weight.

This already has me thinking about my next build. I’m definitely going with a 16" or a 14.5". If I go 14.5" I’ll be registering the lower as an SBR, for the sake of simplicity, as down the road I might want a suppressor, flash hider, etc. instead of the planned FSC556.
God you guys are going to spend a lot of my money fast…

Good looking rifle. Really like those MI SS-Series forearms.

Thanks, I find it very pleasing to the eye. But every parent says their children are beautiful…
And I love the SS12. Perfect forend for me.

Down load your mags by one round and see if your mags seat better. In 30s I load 28. I like your build. I just finished up a 20" A4 last month.

Curious, why do you have a fixed rear and a folding front sight?

It’s pathetic, but the folding one was cheaper

Also, it makes it easier to lean the gun in the corner of my closet until I get a gun safe (not resting on the front sight when folded).

nice sleek look

Looks good, I’d been playing with building a 20" M16A4 clone, but now that I have orders to Germany and can’t really take any guns there, that plan has been put on hold.
