Purchased a new LE 6940 this past spring and have slowly been adding acessories…ie, Magpul CTR stock, trigger guard, RVG, MS3 sling, rail protectors, ASAP, MOE+ grip, and topped it off with an Aimpoint M4. Great shooting rifle with no problems, just wish the trigger was a little better.
Looking advice, opinions, and other info, please advise. Thanks in advance.
How much money are you willing to spend to upgrade a trigger that you feel is somewhat lacking in performance?
Should have included that in original post, COST…Can anyone give a price range along with other info? I’ve spent alot so far, a little more won’t hurt I suppose…
Well, I have Geiselle SSA-E type 2-stage triggers in all my ARs except my RRA, which has their match grade trigger. It is every bit as good as the Geiselle’s, which were approx. $200 each, from Brownell’s.
Others on the forum will be able to give you different model numbers for different purposes. SSA-Es fit the bill for me. There are single stage triggers, 3-gun triggers, you name it an it’s out there. They will cost you though.
I recommend a drop-in trigger group or module though, rather than reworking the hammer/sear in your rifle now.

Geissele is hands down worth the extra over the rra trigger. I have seen a couple rra triggers go down and have serious malfunctions in low round counts, I haven’t seen a Geissele go down and Geissele’s customer service is second to none. Geissele is one of the very few combat grade aftermarket triggers available, plus they are a forum sponser.
Geissele is the hands down favorite / winner. They base model trigger that made them famous is the SSA. I run those in multiple AR’s. About $180 They are perfect, not too heavy, not light.
4.5lb two stage trigger

2 in last stage.
You can run it precision using the 2 stage, or you can run and gun. You wont notice the two stage.
When shooting the RR it Will give you a chance to see if you like a two stage trigger. Do jot buy one as others have stated they are not a good option. At least with your standard setup you know you can rely on it. The chances it goes bad are slim to none.
Geiselle make so many triggers you can find one to suit your needs. The nice thing about geiselle tis they use full power hammer springs, and there service is second to none.
If you do not like a two stage trigger, anew want something more like the stock trigger you could get one of the ALG triggers. They are made with colt parts, but you get a pull weight around 5 pounds with a smooth pull. They are under 75 dollars.
Whether you get a geiselle or a ALG (Amy Lynn Geiselle) you are getting quality backed by some of the best service in the industry.
I went with th SSA-E in one of my builds. My LMT has a Timney 3# single stage. I like 'em both.
The Timney is the best single stage I’ve pulled, and it’s a drop in. As for two stage you might also want to look into Jewell. It’s a fine trigger also.
I have a similar build and I recently (last night) decided for the SSA. After countless hours of reading, graphs and videos, I concluded the SSA-E was too light of a pull. Goodluck.
I really like my SSA & SSA-E triggers. However, before droppiong the cash on a new trigger, remove the one you have, clean it and lube it with grease or Never Seez. Apply the lubricant to all the sears, the pins and the bottom curve of the hammer and re-install it. It will make a world of difference
Buy once cry once, just get the Geiselle.
Yeah, same as my rifle, was looking at something else, but the Colt came home…glad I made that decision…still gonna try the RRA in my friends and see how it performs, but after my research I know the Geissele will be the route to go.

Another vote for Geissele. I put the standard SSA in all my ARs except my Mk12 Mod1 which has the SSA-E. My primary gun has around 20k rounds with the SSA in it and no trigger related issues. Pony up the extra cash… you won’t regret it.
By looking at the specs of your rifle, it seems you have a quality set-up, so I’d avoid the RRA. Why put a hobby gun trigger on a go-to-war rifle?
Geissele SSA is right up your alley. Consistent and reliable. Won’t turn into a crappy single stage like the RRA.

My vote goes to the Geiselle SSA trigger. You definitely get your money’s worth. I’ve used KAC’s, LMT’s, RRA’s and a bunch of others. I’m happy with Geiselle’s.

I gave my son an LMT 2 Stage for his BCM M4, it is actually a very good trigger.
