2 *New Products from MI (Midwest Industries)

Here is a first look at 2 of MI (Midwest Industries) NEW products.

They are releasing a NEW Tactical Handguard Free Float (MI#24). It features an extended length of 10". It will extend past (and over) the gas port on a carbine gas system.

To be used with the MI#24, they have also release a new Low Profile Gas Block (#LPG). This gas block will fit under the MI handguards (various other models also). The low profile gas block also is designed to be a bit longer to cover and bare metal or machining marks from the remove of your standard front sight base.

You can sort of see the MI low profile gas block under the handguards in this picture.

Nice! How much does it weigh?

The gas block looks GTG too. Cool stuff.

Looks good Paul! Is the bottom rail attachment similiar to others?

Mark

I forgot the weight (need to double check when I am at the shop), but it is lean and mean . .

Hi Mark,
The bottom rail bolt to the top rail section. It secures at the rear (by barrel nut) and at a front end cap that MI uses to joint the top and bottom togather.

You can kind of see the front end cap in this picture…

Hrm, that front flip looks neato too.

I purchased the MI rail flip up front sight a few weeks back and I love it. I need to order a few more. It’s very lite and does the job.

From,
Joe…

Sorry it took a few days to get these pictures up.

This picture shows some of the cool features of the New MI (Midwest Industries) Low Pro Gas Block.

You can see the gas block at the top of the picture features 3 retaining screws for a solid mount.

You can also see what a barrel looks like when the standard front sight base is removed for a gas block install. If the barrel was not parkerized before the install of the front sight base, it will have an area of exposed ‘white’ metal.

The MI Low Pro Gas Block is a made a bit longer to cover those areas, as in the barrel on the bottom of the picture.

And just some random pics of the MI#24 (10" FF) and MI Low Pro Gas block . . . all dressed up and ready to go.

Some pics I had on my hard drive

Hey Paul, So the bottom doesn’t have the detent to allow the bottom section to be removed?

Mark

Hi Mark,
The bottom rail section on the MI is bolted on and off with allen bolts.

Thanks!
Paul

The MI#24 (10") is 14.7oz

Is this handguard pinned or anything to keep it from rotating like some of the other brands?

Gas blocks…pinned or set screw?

Can I get a .625…if so I could sure use two of them…
(can you lean on them to make up some .625s…)
