Prayers for the families sent. May they find peace in knowing their loved ones died a hero’s death doing what others would not. Rejoice with the Lord, sirs.
Another dirt bag that can take fathers away from children and live the hotel life until paroled. I hope whoever detained the guy didn’t have enough strength left in their arms to lift a cigarette.
That’s the small village where one of those reality shows was filmed. 237 residents. In a small village someone calls the police for brandishing? Sounds like it could be a domestic argument.
Very sad turn of events and stupid to take two lives over some piddly ass dispute if that’s what it was. Alcohol or drugs involved?

That might be a tad overstated, but it’s not too wide of the mark. If the Inuit and other Native American villages in Alaska are anything like the Indian reservations we have throughout the state of Montana, they are, to a large degree, rural ghettos. Unemployment, poverty, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence . . . it’s all off the charts. Life on the rez is a different world.

Not Pat for sure. They are being tight lipped on the shooter. I think it might be a juvenile. Montana Dave is not far off the mark. However, like everywhere else in the world there is good out there too.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of Trooper Rich and Sgt. Johnson. May they receive comfort and strength during this difficult time.
I really, really, really hate domestic disputes.
It wasn’t a typical domestic. The village has what’s called a VPSO… village public safety officer. They are unarmed (just passed our legislature to arm them) peacekeepers in dozens of villages. Most VPSO’s are Alaskan Natives, so they have a better relationship with the locals in primarily Alaskan Native villages. When things get too hot, they call in the Alaska State Trooper. All villages that have VPSO’s are located off the road system, so Troopers must come by boat, snowmobile or airplane. It takes time.
In this case, it appears that the VPSO called for help after the father of the murder suspect threatened someone in a dispute about a couch,was also seen driving an ATV while impaired, and brandished a weapon. The Troopers responded to arrest the man. From reports I’ve read, they struggled with the man and ended up inside his house. At this point the man’s 19y.o. son shot the two troopers. Both the father and son were arrested after a bit of a standoff.

remember seeing the younger guy on the show recently !
What a waste over nothing. It’s not like the father was being dragged off to a FEMA detention camp or anything. Probably would have got a citation for driving without a license and a warning about threatening the VPSO. In a rash moment two young troopers are dead and the 19 yr old may spend his life in prison.
RIP Troopers.

Don’t ever read the comments. I honestly don’t care what website or forum it is, I never read the comments. The last time I did that, I wanted to kick a baby.
