1st upper build FDE with pics

So here is my first upper build. I’m not trying to copy the scar fde pattern but it kind of turned out that way. For the receiver, I wanted to find a color a little darker then the rails and I got it how I wanted. I used Aervoe Dark Earth as a base coat, and then used Rustoleum Dark Earth as a very light coat on top. Its not as dark in person as it is in the picture. I used my cell phone for the pics so its kinda of crappy and the color is off. The way it blended it looks like an anodized upper in person. I will paint the barrel once the compensator gets welded on this week. I am surprised how much money I saved by buying all the parts seperately compared to how much DD quoted me on this same build from the factory.

Here are the specs:

DD Upper
DD 14.5" Government Profile Barrel
DD M4A1 FDE Rails w/ magpul ladder rail covers
Battlecomp 1.5
BCM Warfighter charging handle
DD bolt carrier group
Troy FDE flip up sights
Custom Engraved Ejection port cover by Harford Engraving

Now to get on the lower…

un-written, but often spoken rule in gun pic posting- NO FEET ALLOWED IN GUN PICS.

nice build.

Thanks for that catch. I didn’t notice it. Fixed.

great… the entire pic is gone. i was trying to please my foot fetish. JK :sarcastic:

Dang, sounds like a cool looking build. Wish I could see it!

Are the pictures not working? I can see them on my computer.

nope…

There is a pic thread you know. No one wants 100 “look what I just got” threads with no informative information behind the project.

That is why I posted in the custom build thread, because I built the the upper. As per what the custom build thread says

“Custom Build Forum Show off pictures and specifications of your latest project”

No one is forcing you to look at this thread

I see it now. Very cool looking color combo, and grade A parts too. Nice job!

I can’t tell, did you paint the barrel? If so tell us how it holds up when it gets really hot. Thanks.

Yeah sorry for the crappy pictures. Its not painted now because I had to ship it out to get the gas block and compensator pinned, but I am going to paint it. I’ll post back with how the aervoe paint holds up with the heat.

Speak for yourself bro. I enjoy these threads, as do many others.

Great job on the assembly…it only get’s more addicting!
