In this one case I will allow myself to be a little offended. I have seen very little respect for the Office of the President by the President and his own administration. If you are going to a memorial service like the one depicted in the video then, for goodness sakes, keep the snarky comments and the smirks to yourself. I expect the president and his wife to act a certain way while representing the office of the presidency.
But, I agree with you, there are other things to focus on.
For quite a few people it means much more than that. People have died for that colored piece of cloth and what it represents. And to not respect the symbol of those sacrifices is to not respect the sacrifices.
It is simply one more blatant indicator of his (and his wifes) disdain for America and all it stands for. But honestly it pales in comparison to the blatant insult that is simply such people occupying the White House in the first place.
That isn’t true, and you of all people should know that.
In the last one hundred years, how many military members have fought for anything that the flag originally represented? None.
Every war of the last one hundred years, every soldier that has died, did not die for freedom, they died for various corporate interests.
I know that this is not a popular view to hold, but I really don’t care what others think anymore.
A member of my family was killed while serving in one of these wars, and I refuse to disrespect their death under some so-called patriotic cloak when I know that even they didn’t believe in what they were doing at the time.

I’m sorry you feel that a family member was killed for nothing. It is even sadder that they didn’t believe in what they were fighting for, but it is a volunteer army. I agree that the US has been involved in some pointless nonsense completely unrelated to national defense, but to suggest that everything we have done falls under that category is as untrue as the suggestion that nothing we have done falls under that category.
I don’t wish to say anything that might be taken as disrespect because that is not my intention, so I will leave it at that.
