Just hit 1k thru it, so I thought I’d pull the grips off and snap a few pictures.
Overall, I’m happy with the performance (well, since it was mine, it’s awesome ).
In case you are familiar with this 1911, she is a 2001 build, with just over 50k through it. Has been refinished…a few times. Most recently in Cerakote by NIC. By far my favorite non metallic coating. I wish I had kept all the FTF/FTE data, but I did not in the early years. Suffice to say, it like all WC products, has been wonderfully reliable. No parts failures during the entire duration, sights upgraded to the new Battle/Gold Bead setup. My only complaint is the 30lpi checkering. I like it a bit rougher. (A thorough history of the gun, with lots of dirty pics, can be had over at 1911fourm.com, my user there is blr).
You think a self lubricating coating…by definition, a coating the provides lubrication by wearing on itself to expose more PTFE… shouldn’t show any wear?
The standard coating that came on my Colt has shown wear at 1,500 rounds. I honestly don’t know anything about coatings yet, but I’d be happy with it looking like that so far.
That looks really nice. I have been looking for a good place to send one of my Dan Wesson 1911’s in to get re-coated. I may have to look into this.
I will do a search but do you have an older thread which shows the pistol before the new coating? Also the details on the place you sent it to for the new treatment and price / turn around time?
