I was curious if other Armalite style uppers would fit on the SR-25 lower? I think that’s a yes, but many 308 AR rifles tend to be proprietary.
Also,
Is there an SR-25 serial number that it can be safe to say that lower sn’s were built before the clinton AWB?

Fitting other uppers to a real SR-25 lower is ify at best.
You would need to test fit them before buying.
On the serial number thing, sometimes that works if the log books show the serial number being shipped. But the reality is that serial numbers were not sequential, they were random as the anodized lowers were wrapped in paper by the vendor and we just picked out of the storage boxes one at a time.
The best evidence that you can “hold in your hand” and show the police/government is the original factory qualification target dated and signed by our shooter back then, Mr. Jim Neff (aka: Mr. Minute of Angle). He has probably shot more sub-moa groups than any other human being. So if you are looking for a suspected pre-SR, that factory target is one of the most desirable items to have.
