Anyone have any suggestions on holsters that will fit a fullsize 1911 with a Dawson rail and a X300 light attached? Safariland says that the 6004 for railed 1911’s with X 200/300 lights wont work for one with a Dawson rail setup.
A guy used my Warrior/X300 6004 in a Vickers class with a Dawson railed custom. I do not know if fit was perfect, but it was good enough as far as I can tell.
Yes, you need this model for the model you asked about
6004-5621-XXX
the three numbers that are “XXX” dictate color and right or left handed
the first two “XX’s” indicate color.
the last “X” designates
1 Right Hand
2 Left Hand
There is not a holster that is ubiquitous for BOTH.
The Integral railed pistols have a deeper and wider dust cover on frame than the Dawson railed 1911’s.
I would verify w/ vendor/manufacture.
HTH…
Ok, I was just coming back here to post this. The 6004-5621-xxx holster is supposed to work just fine with the Dawson rail and X200/300.
Just found this posted on 10-8Performance.com
The industry mainstay, the Safariland 6004, remains at the forefront of your choices for your light mounted 1911. Their 560 and 561 paddle and belt mounted Custom Fit holsters feature moveable rollers and adjustable tension, and any number of the 1911s without a mounted light should be accommodated by these rigs.
For reference, here are the available Safariland 6004 model numbers for right handed, black holsters:
6004-538-xxx 1911 w/ Dawson Rail or SureFire MR07 with SureFire Military Light
6004-5340-xxx Kimber Warrior/TLE, Springfield Operator, Wilson CQB, Nighthawk GRP with SureFire X200 (should also work with Dawson Rail and X200 Combo)
6004-5621-xxx Same guns above with ITI M3 or M6. Also works with the MR07 Mount and X200.
6004-533-xxx 1911 with SureFire Classic 310R
6004-536-xxx 1911 with SureFire Classic 610R
6004-5322-xxx 1911 with Caspian Bolt-on Rail with ITI M6x
The last three digits designate color and handedness. The first two digits of this series pertain to color:
12 Black
51 OD/Ranger Green
55 Coyote/FDE Brown
The last digit of the series pertains to handedness.
1 Right Hand
2 Left Hand
Thus, a 6004 for a Dawson Railed 1911 with Military Light, Coyote/FDE, in right hand configuration would be 6004-538-551.
Hope this helps!
Pretty sure mine was a 6004-5340…but it looks like they have a more specific one.
So did you buy a 6004 and did it work? What model did you end up with?
I am using the following for 1911s with Dawson Rail and X300
6285-5621-131 Safariland 6285 1.5-inch Drop Level II Holster - Tac Light - Fine-Tac ~Right Hand Draw
I’ve been using the -5621- fit for a few years with both a Dawson Rail/X200 combo and a custom made rail/X200 combo.
The description is for a SA Operator or Kimber Warrior or other integral rail 1911 with a M3/M6. This is important, as you need the space created for the larger light, which will be taken up by the rail, then use the smaller X200/300 lights and it fits just right.

I was looking at the Dawson and the Novak add on rails. The Dawson seems smaller but limites me to a Surefire light (which does not seem like that is too bad). The Nodak is bigger but can get into different lights (again this could cause a holster problem).
If you plan on moving the light from gun to gun, that maybe a problem, otherwise I wouldn’t worry about it.
The custom light mount I have on one 1911, was made around the M3 light, as that was what most officers were using at the time, I use it with an X200 with no problems, but if I had to do it again, I would have went with the Dawson, and did on another gun. I’m currently contemplating having Dawson make me a blank, or custom rail with the hole pattern of the other mount and switching over, but I rarely shoot my 1911’s these days, so its not a priority.
Either way, being stuck with SureFire lights is hardly a hardship. And if you feel the need to switch lights, amongst guns, buy two, leave one with the universal rail, and one with the Dawson adapter.

Thanks Bob that soulds like good advice!
Anyone have a suggestion on a Safriland dealer that has good pricing?
www.copquest.com is pretty good.
They look good but theyonly show the holsters by the model of firearm they fit and not by Safariarms model numbers:confused:.
Sorry, I didnt notice that. I’ve gotten some duty gear from them and my partner just got his 6285 for his new Sig 220 from them. Maybe try calling them? 800-728-0974
I got the 6285 through Copquest about a year ago. Their prices are well below MSRP, but IIRC it tok 5-6 weeks for the order to be filled. Few (if any) retailers stock the -5621 config.
I bought mine from the local cop shop when I was in ABQ. I was able to bring in the gun light combo, and insure the fit, but I paid way more then I should have.
Bob
Which ABQ shop actually had that many in stock? Kaufman’s was the last place I checked, and they didn’t have much at all.
It was Kaufman’s, which is why I paid to much for it. This was a few years back, but in the back corner, they had all lot of 6004’s for Glocks and 1911’s.
