So guys, which one would you buy? The Glock 19 or Glock 23? I already have a 21sf and have owned a 17 36 and 26. Glocks rock!
I am leaning toward the 19 for 3 reasons: ammo price, capacity, and the 33 rd mag.
What do you guys suggest?
I suggest that using the 33 round mag looks gay.

The 19, by all means. IMO Glocks are best enjoyed in the original 9mm format. I know that some will want to burn me for heresy, but I think that the best-shooting .40 options are the P229 and the M&P40. The Glocks? Not so much.
My vote would be 23 and then get the 9mm & .357 SIG conversion barrels so you have the most options.
You do need to pick up 9mm magazines along with the barrel.
Hands down 19. I think if you search pervious posts you’ll see a lot of G19 love. Hopefully the Gen 4 .40 Glocks will be better. But as stated above there are better choices in .40 such a M&P.
The Glock 23 is not very highly regarded. On the other hand the Glock 19 has established itself a stellar reputation for it’s durability and boring reliability.
I have both a G23 and a G19. Because my duty gun is a G22, my G23 is my EDC off duty gun. It has been flawless for more than 5,000 rounds and is easily the equal of my G19. The Glock 40 vs. Glock 9 debate is a little overblown in my experience. My G22 with X200 has also been flawless.
The 40 cal Glock problems are not overblown. In fact they are well documented.
I would go with the G19. If you want the 40 cal then get the M&P.

My understanding is that to do this, it is better to get the 357 Sig version and then the .40 and 9mm conversion barrels. The 357 is the most powerful of the 3 calibers.
The only thing you’re accomplishing is diverting money that you should be spending on buying a spare G19, spare G19 mags, 9mm ammunition and quality training.

19 by far. You’ll have more oem mag options.
When I spoke to someone at Glock they told me the newer pistols all use the same frames.
You are making your pistol versatile if the SHTF.
9mm is available all over the place but should you run out, .40 is all over the place too. .357 SIG is just a barrel purchase from Glock that can be had for about $125. In fact the conversion barrel is about the same price too so it is not like we are talking about spending huge money.

You can also insert the 33rnd mag and use it as a golf putter. I had a buddy insert a 33rounder in a G26, I swear it looked like a putter.:rolleyes:
I have both and can not remember the last time my 23 has seen the light of day. I don’t believe in playing “transformers” with my Glocks as it relates to switching a 40 to a 9 or 357. In my opinion the 19 offers the best combo of potency, flexibility,durability, capacity, ect…

What exactly do you mean by SHTF? End of the world, zombies, natural disaster?
If you take the money you invested in extra barrels and different caliber magazines, I don’t know if these are necessary, you could purchase quite a bit of spare ammunition to save up if the SHTF scenario were to come about. Personally I don’t see myself needing multiple calibers on a Glock platform, my primary weapon in an extended bad living situation would be an AR.
