Interesting. So you’ve stripped off the Marshield coating and refinished finished the stock? And added a rail and changed out the front sight? Anything else?
That’s great. I’m sure you’re polishing the part of the extractor mechanism responsible for the dreaded Marlin jam. I’ve got an 1894SS in .44 magnum I love to shoot. These are great, fun guns.
I thank all of you for your nice words.
Currently I am doing a Winchester 1886 45/70 that I am cutting down to 16.5 inch.
It is going to be a nice gun I think I will have to have one for myself in the end.
My buddy has a pre 64 m94 that is pretty beat up, and forsale. I’ve been thinking about getting it and refinishing the wood, cut it down to 16.5 and either duracoat or park.
I love the blueing. I only just this week discovered the wonders of gun blueing. All this time I thought the “man” finish was cerakote, or some other expensive shit. I got that stuff, and that shit works too. BUT, blueing is an art. It’s fucking nuts as you do it and the steel’s chemical composition changes right in front of your eyes. It’s old school magic. Alchemy. The primitives must have thought the process was from God. It’s fucking cool. Try blueing something. It’s fun.
