I’m looking at building a SPRish type upper and I really like the 18inch 410 stainless barrel from BCM. It has a rifle length gas tube and I only have carbine lowers. Will an 18" rifle length gas system operate using a carbine extension and buffer? I ask because BCM has pictures of their SPR uppers on carbine lowers. I can swap out a rifle receiver extension and buffer if need be, I just don’t want to if it isn’t needed. Thanks for your help.
Yep - its all plug and play, presuming you are just talking about a carbine buttsock. The usual play is to test it against different weight buffers (carbine, h, h2) and find what handles all your ammo types reliably.
I find the regular carbine buffer as well as an H work fine in my two 18" builds.
Thanks. I was thinking it would work with a carbine stock. I have a couple of regular carbine buffers in my parts box.
