I am about to launch into an AR-15 build. My starting point is as follows:
- Magpul UBR stock (black)
- Tacitcal Innovations lower billet
Any suggestions on the best 16" barrel upper assembly?

I’ve always been partial to A2 flash hiders on 16" barrels. AAC Blackouts and Smith Vortexes out-perform the A2. Depends on your needs. All I see here is a partial parts list with no mention of intent or needs. Mission drives the gear train.
I am building a Larue Tactical Stealth Sniper Rifle with 18" barrel that does have a specific mission. I want to build a custom built AR-15 (16"’ barrel) to compliment my SPR rifle.
The rifle has no mission, but to be one bad ass AR-15 with an attitude. I will shoot it mostly inside 100 yards. I may want to shoot 3-gun (only one optic) or tactical carbine competition (2 optics allowed) with it also. It needs to be light-weight so I can shoot it off hand and on the move (No un-needed parts or accessories). I can change the stock to a Magpul CTR stock to reduce weight if I need to in the end.
I have a BCM 16" Midlength with a PWS FSC556 on the end. I love this combo.

FYI… I transformed my previous AR-15 into a .50 Beowulf wrecking ball. Therefore, I need to build a new AR-15 with a 16" barrel.
One very important point I failed to mention is that I do not want an A2 fixed front site. No back-up iron sights. No combat sling. No vertical grip. No weapon light. No laser. No bipod. Just one CQB scope; that’s it. I would love to hear some suggestions on scopes.
This rifle needs to be simple, down and dirty like my Beowulf. Although, I want to build this rifle with the good stuff. I want a two-stage trigger to match my other AR platform rifles.
Here’s a pic of my Larue Tactical Stealth sniper rifle so far. It is far from finshed. It will be tricked out to the max. I need to fill in the gaps with this new AR-15.

Vortex flash supressor (shown to put out the smallest flash of any on the market)
Surefire G2 in a Viking Tactics offset mount putting it at 11 o’clock
Troy flip up sights front and back
Aimpoint CompML2 in a LaRue mount

You are well protected. That is exactly what I am trying to build.
How do you like the Aimpoint CompML2?
I like the Vortex flashhider. I may have to go with that.
How do you like the Magpul angled fore grip?
Aimpoint is good, but I’m considering selling it to put the funds towards an ACOG…I still have irons for close range duty if I need em.
The Magpul AFG has a more natural feel to me. Its got a good angle for holding the weapon while keeping from chicken winging. I like it more than either just holding the handguard, or using a vertical grip, which will have your weapon wobbling around more…

You can’t go wrong with Trijicon.

I couldn’t agree more.
I like the Primary Weapon Systems FSC 556 muzzle brake/flash hider. Good mix of both. I like the Trijicon TR24, Aimpoint T1, TA33 ACOG amoung others.

For your optics, I would check out either the Aimpoint T-1 or the Trijicon TR24 1-4x.
Unless you can afford a Schmidt & Bender Short Dot 1.1-4x that is.

I am putting an Aimpoint Micro T-1 with Larue Tactical angle mount on my Larue Tatical Stealth sniper rifle.
