12.5" Upper Question

I’m getting ready to build an upper for my SBR and settled on the 12.5". Curious if a 12.5" BFH is in the pipeline, and if so a very rough estimate so I can determine to wait or just pull the trigger on the normal 12.5".

I asked the very same question and Paul replied that there was no plans for the BFH 12.5" at this time. I went ahead and picked up the standard barrel (Kino configuration).

Put black MagPul MOE stock on it, mated it to an IonBonded BCM M16 BCG, stuck a Noveske KX3 on it, black Magpul rear sight and LaRue mounted T-1.

Light weight, well balanced, very pointable…sweet upper for not a lot of $$

What are you using as a handguard/rail

Can you get the Kino without the standard fsb? To do a flat top Kino?

Knowing Paul at BCM most likely thought may be a delay to get you the upper. Best bet is to shoot him a PM

Unfortunately, I don’t know yet. The upper is being held elsewhere so I don’t get dinged for “constructive intent” as my stamp hasn’t been approved yet.

Do you mean a railed gas block at the middy position? I’m not quite following you.

Yes. Low profile gas block. My next upper will be a 12.5 and would love a mid length. But without the tower.

I’m a bit lost. The BCM 12.5’s all have a carbine length gas system. The Kino puts a standard FSB at the mid length position in for a dissipator style upper (low pro gas block at carbine, standard FSB at mid-length position).

If you want it without the tower, just get a longer handguard. Like this one from BCM, though it is out of stock right now… Sales link here

I’m with UVvis. Adding a railed gas block at that point really adds no value to the build. You essentially have a single rail at the mid-length FSB position with none of the advantages of a longer handguard.

I like the Kino.

I liked it to, but got this now, and can always throw a gas block on it and such later.

I am tempted to go that route now since I will have to it off anyways since I’m looking at a Troy VTAC battlerair.
