Some dude on TOS posted some problem with AAC….the brass showed severe overpressure.
I’ve bought some of their 6.5cm (not bad, not great, small sample) and some .357 (thermonuclear, haven’t chrono’d).
A buddy I shoot with bought a moderate-pile of their 9mm and 10mm, like 10k of 9mm and I’m not sure how much 10mm. Pounding a squib out of a G19 was a pain.
For a long time, AAC wasn’t used in their rental guns at the PSA store……
I bought a case of Frontier 5.56 55 grain back in 2017 for under $300. Even though I could “feel” it being hotter than normal I never had a problem. Once that case was gone I never bought more due to all the over pressure complaints I read about, though.
So is there a velocity sweet spot for 55gr out of a 13.9 barrel? I asked earlier but did not see anyone answer that. I heard it said that if there’s a chance you might find yourself shooting out to distance (250yds +) you don’t want your barrel length any shorter than 14.5 if you’re going to be using 55gr… has anyone made consistent hits with 13” rifle using 55s at 250-300 yds?
300 is fine for getting hits with 55 from a 13.9”. I’m not sure about the frag range or whatever. What makes 55s suck for getting hits at distance isn’t just velocity, its wind drift and lack of impact feedback.
There’s a thread in here somewhere where I was talking about getting hits with Tula 55 at moderate ranges (like 400, IIRC) with an optic zeroed for something else. When I tried to stretch it further I couldn’t even tell where the rounds were going in the rain.
