-11 And Falling...

Gonna get brisk tonight. I don’t even want to go in the garage to take the garbage out, it’s only 9 degrees.

Hope everyone is keeping warm, I got the fireplace going.

Worried about the squirrels and other critters outside. It’s gonna be a tough week.

It is damn cold. The wind chill is colder than I’ve ever felt in my life. Lol. I went to the gym earlier in the day and I walked out all hot and sweaty and the cold air literally sucked the life outta my lungs. Felt the same as jumping in the cold ocean.

I’m North of Austin and South or Waco and it’s a brisk 17 degrees.

It’s weird. Typically, because of the way the jet stream flows, if it’s super frigid in Alaska the lower 48 is warm and vice versa. This time around we are both cold. Places in AK are reaching below -60F, and in my area we have had -30F all week. Today was our first warmup day. -10F was the low.

And I thought 25F at 6pm in Seattle was bad…

-20 this morning and never got above zero. The deer and coyotes I’ve seen seem pretty well furred up, though. Still, winterkill will take its toll.

It’s bad enough…

And THAT is why I could never live in Alaska. The difference between -20 and -30 are truly shocking. I can’t even imagine -60.

For me 20 degrees is just fine, under 20 is a bit cold. I can layer up, take my dog for a 2 mile walk and when I get home I’m actually warm.

When he hit zero or below, it’s a hardship. I tried to take my dog for a walk last night when it was 0 and we only made it 3 blocks.

What’s the lowest you can get somewhat acclimated too?

-24 in my AO.

I’ve seen colder.

Cool, not cold…I think we’re in the low 40’s/high 30’s tonight.

Southern Lauisiana here, supposed to get -7 celsius

Western WA here, 22 degrees, went shooting earlier this morning, and just came inside from a few hours out in the woods, walked a couple miles, made a fire, sat and ate beef jerky and talked on the radio.

Some of the roads yesterday were horrible, up north of me. Glad to be off of them for a few days.

Life is good! Sounds like we’re better off than most.

We were down to -42F with a wind chill of -52F here at Natrona County Airport early Thursday morning.

The only thing I am missing this weekend is the opportunity to try out my lighter-gassed guns in frigid weather to confirm function with various .223 and 5.56 rounds.

Other than that, looks like this -6° is the low tomorrow. May go shoot at the club, IDK.

I’m gonna die! --it’s 68 right now. Although tonight is supposed to be close to freezing in SW FL.

Haha–I grew up in upstate NY, I remember changing a freaking car tire Christmas morning 1980 I believe, it was -60+ with the wind chill.

Was 46° at 8 o’clock last night and it is now 3°.

-7 celsius is only 19 degree fahrenheit. It’s cold but not crippling cold.

The negative gives it a more austere tone. Lol
