I know this has been discussed plenty in the past, but things change. Looking to build a 11.5 suppressor host upper. Specifically using my old Specwar K.
My knee jerk would be a Sionics RGP or something from Clint. Would like at least “rack grade” accuracy, but better would be preferred. Just sayin. Not expecting a foot long precision rifle.
So chime in. What’s new and exciting in the market. Should I just stick with tried and true? Open to suggestions, but I am in Tucson for a bit longer, and Sionics is just across town.
I’d recommend Sionics. I went with the suppressor dedicated barrel and I’ve been very happy with it. Pairing it with a LMT E-carrier and the newer BCM CH has been a phenomenal set-up. Accuracy has always been solid from my Sionics barrels, the 11.5 has maintained that experience.
This. I don’t see a reason not to buy Sionics, especially since they are local to you. My 16” Sionics upper is my favorite hands down and is perfectly gassed and I run it suppressed and unsuppressed.
I’m here temporarily for a job. Next up Nevada, then Missouri.
I’ve been in Tucson for a bit but haven’t made the time to see if I can get over there. I honestly don’t even know if Sionics has a public storefront. I know he wasn’t an owner, but Sionics kinda equals Will to me. It might be a little depressing to go in.
Sionics has been the default recommendation for a smaller gas port for the ten years I’ve visited this forum. If suppressed only, the ERGP.
I got a BRT suppressed only barrel with a EXtended Carbine gas port. A little longer than Carbine and shorter than Midlength. I like it.
The reality is that a lot of manufacturers have followed the smaller gas port trend in the last five years.
You could also get something like a Colt SOCOM barrel and cut it down. I use a 13” Colt pencil barrel like that. No adjustment to gas port size = lean. Suppressed, ejection was at 3:00 with a rifle buffer and 3-4:00 with an A5H2.
