Shooting the 300 at a thousand is really like cheating. I know orkan isn’t a huge fan of the belted mags, but I don’t mind sitting on the single stage and running the collet die on the case bodies to keep em chambering.
There are far worse options. The 300WM is a very capable cartridge. There are other non-belted options that offer the same or better performance however. 
Yet, a 208 Amax stuffed in front of a stout load of h1000 lends to some excellent terminal performance on big game.

The delay between the shot and the ding was a little longer than I expected for a 300WM.
I’m guessing about 7 mils to make the trip. That still takes a while.

Yes, I have a Thunderbeast on order for that gun. I considered an AAC MK13 ( I think it is). I could handle the extra $400, I couldn’t handle the $275 adapter. That’s ridiculous. I’ll do a review on that when I get it.
I think Markm stuffs about 76 gr of H1000 getting us about 2850 with those 208’s. they did great out to 1,400. We want to take them to the mile, it’s just hard to find 1,000 yards much less a mile.
I love my 300WM, and you ought a fancy that particular 5R, it sports a manners T3. I might make that gun a hunter after I shoot the barrel out. It’s pretty handy.

Yeah… I wanted a Tackleberry shot where just the cardboard backer blew up like in Police Academy. But the whole friggin target was destroyed.
Figured it was about there. Just cause I don’t like 300WM, doesn’t mean I haven’t shot a lot of it. I just got back from DTA’s “sniper country” this last weekend. Laid down on someone else’s rifle with 338LM in it… and dialed in a 900yd target dead nuts to the exact 10th mil without looking at a calc.
Do enough shooting, and its surprising how good of an instinct you get for firing solutions.
