100 vs 110 Grain Accupoints for 6.8 SPC

Is the general consensus of this forum that the 100 grain Accupoint is the better balance of terminal performance versus intermediate barrier penetration when compared to the 110 grain version. I’ve found pictures of the 110’s performance in gel on other forums, and they seem to do a great job with penetration (~18") but the TC is not as impressive. I’ve not seen any pictures of the 100 grain gel tests, although I know that Doc Roberts was testing this load last year and gave it very high marks. However, I did not specifically hear him compare this load to the 110 grain offering.

I ask because I’m going to be switch from the SSA 115 OTM, and I’m a little torn between the SSA 100 grain Accupoint or their tactical loaded 110 grain offering. I’m sure that either of the Accupoints would have better barrier capability than the 115 grain OTM, but my gut tells me that the 100 grain is probably the better terminal performer for a truck gun when windshields and sheet metal are common barriers.

The Hornady 110 gr OTM, Nosler 100 gr Accubond, Barnes 85 gr TSX, and Remington 115 gr Core Lokt JSP are the best choices for LE use in 6.8 mm. The 110 gr TSX and 110 gr Accubond are probably better for hunting tougher medium size game like elk and large hogs.

Thank you Dr. Roberts. I’m probably going to go with the SSA loading in the 100 grain Accubonds since it is readily available through local and Internet distributors. I was very pleased to see that ammunitiontogo.com now has SSA loads in 6.8 SPC at reasonable prices.
