State your source.
On which one…? I don’t have a definitive source, I have read several OS articles covering the subject over the last years.
TTP (Pakistani Taliban) are actively attacking Pakistani military and government targets, to include ISI personell and infrastructure.
They have openly declared their opposition to the Pakistani government.
The ISI might well have been involved in the earlier years of TTP’s existence, but not now.
As for Mullah Omar and the Afghan Taliban, while the two groups are definitely linked, they have different strategies and different focus. The Afghan Taliban have openly denied any relationship with the TTP.
There are strong ties between the Afghan Taliban and ISI, maybe also Pakistani Army and other gov entities, which I am sure is one of the reasons that they don’t associate with the Pakistani Taliban.
Again, an assessment based on OS, so I cannot claim to be 100% correct. It does seem to be a likely scenario, however.

I feel terrible about innocent victims of terrorism anywhere.
That said, if we were still treating terrorists like terrorists and doing whatever is necessary to learn about what they are planning, maybe we would have had some warning.
Also, Pakistan has a history of harboring Islamic extremists so this shouldn’t be so surprising. Maybe they will rethink their associations, but probably not.
While that may very well be true, they have laid with other Taliban dogs in the hopes of appeasement or approval or whatever crazy idea.
There is no safe way to appease crazy and when you get in bed with crazy sometimes it ends badly. For those poor kids and their teachers it ended badly.
In my not so expert an opinion the Taliban is to Pakistan what Hamas is to Iran.
The book was great and it sucked at the same time. Just to easy to actually do what the characters enacted in the book.
Threads merged.
Downloaded it on kindle last summer. Read it in one afternoon–but had to take a break halfway through. Too damn close to home, and a not-impossible scenario.
It still bothers me…
Updated: Wrong…it scares the hell out of me, because we are “led” by idiots.
