10.3 MK18 what buffer?

Just ordered a Colt MK18 10.3 upper to switch back and forth on my Colt LE6921 14.5 SBR. I ordered a H2 buffer but was reading some people recommend an H3 on it. Which one is the correct buffer for the 10.3 but will still work with the 14.5 upper also? I will be running my 10.3 un-suppressed and suppressed with my NT4 can.

FWIW the USGI ones run with H1 or H2 buffers with and without the cans.

Meaning, H1 with a can, and H2 without a can?

It would be the other way around. But I think he meant either one.

I’m curious about this as well.

No most lowers have H2 buffers but a few still have H1s and still run with the Mk18 uppers with and without cans. Nobody is switching buffers every time they take the can on and off. If I were building a Mk-18 clone I’d try an H2 to start with or better yet a Vltor A5.

I already have the H2 on the way so I will try it and see. Im not sure how well the H3 would be with the 14.5 and even more so the un-suppressed 10.3. And I don’t want to switch buffers every time either.

The H3 will run fine in a Colt upper with a 10.3" barrel, suppressed or not. While recoil may increase slightly due to the additional weight, the trade off is a reduction in wear on your lower receiver and fire control parts.

I run an h2 on mine. Still cycles way too damn quick on an auto lower so I have an h3 I’m going to try and see how that goes

You don’t really have an answer for this. Most will run fine with the h2 buffer. Best is to try it and switch it if you need to.

On my 10.5 lmt I’m running a h1 buffer. I started with it and had an h2 in the bag in case I needed it. My 10.3 dd barreled upper is the same way. Started with the h buffer and had the h2 with me that I didn’t use for the lmt. So far it has been running fine with the h1 so I haven’t swapped it out.

The 10.5 runs fine suppressed with the h1 as well.

My friends 10.3 dd uses the h2 as it worked better.

I think another question you should be asking is what buffer spring to run as well as the buffer itself.

On my 10.5", I running a H2 buffer on a blue Sprinco Spring, both suppressed and unsuppressed, and functions flawlessly w/ Tula to MK262.

I have an H2 in my non suppressed Noveske MK18, runs like a champ.

Wow that is pretty good. The Tula .223 ammo I have seen turns a standered AR15 into a single shot rifle half the time. It is horrible .223 ammo, but their other calibers seem to work ok.

h buffer in mine. Both suppressed and not. I’m going to try a heavier one if I ever get around to buying one. It runs fine the way it is.

H in mine. Works fine.

The Daniel Defense MK18 (10.3" barrel) comes from the factory with an H buffer.

Yes it does. I got my Mk-18 last Dec and ran it in a carbine course, unfired prior, and the H buffer worked very well.

My 10.5 has run great on everything I have used. H1, H2, A5 and heavy A5 -4 yesterday.

My mk18’s run great suppressed and unsuppressed with an h buffer.
