-1 for Nocaster (non payment)

Only July 19 I got a PM in regards to my ad here:

https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=134930

It was agreed I would mail out the sights and he would mail payment Sat or Monday.

I mailed the sights out July 20.

Checked the mail every day and have received nothing.

Sent PM and email to try and see whats up on July 28/29.

Got a response on July 30 stating:

“Sorry for the delay, I forgot to send. Will mail tomorrow with tracking number.”

Ok, cool, people get busy and forget things I guess this is resolved.

Or not.

It is now August 8 and I have yet to receive ANY payment or even a PM in with an explanation.

I sent a few PMs and emails asking what’s up and none have been replied to.

This sucks sorry to hear this happened to you. However never ever ever send out an item before you have payment and its cleared the bank. Too many crooks out there.

Food for thought:
How is the reverse then not true?

Agreed…but I’ve always demanded payment before shipping…I’ve sold guns, lead, parts, bullets, brass, saddles, harnesses (horse stuff), reloading presses, etc…I always thought payment before shipping was proper etiquette.

Yeah out of ALL the deals I have done on good gun forums I have never had an issue until now. Generally I’ve found the guys here to be solid and trustworthy.

Plus the guy in question had a lot of positive feedback with one negative describing the same issue I am having. I was not aware negative feedback was lumped in with positive feedback in the iTrader number.

Still though, it sucks, but at least it was only $40.

That’s fine, I have followed the same path before, I don’t see anything wrong with either model. Likewise, I now prefer simultaneous shipment. A thief is a thief regardless of whether he stole your goods or your money.

The only person to blame in these instances is the one that got something for nothing.

True…

There is a thread on THR forum where a guy got shafted for $1,600…he filed charges with the Postal Service, local police, etc…no news yet on the outcome.

For that kind of $$$…I’d be all sorts of upset.

Buyer takes the risk generally. Just the way it is for online sales or sales in general. When you buy from Brownells you pay for the items before it arrives at your door.

Not blaming anyone but the bad guy, just giving some friendly advice. As a cop I have seen plenty of people get taken when if they had taken some general precautions they would have been fine.

I got taken early on when buying on Ebay several years back. Not a lot of money about $40 like yours for bullets.
Rules to live by.

  1. Never trust a stranger.
  2. Never deal with anyone with any negative feedback.
  3. Only deal with sellers with established records.
  4. Look at how long the person has been on the board or forum. I will not buy from people without a history. I have had to pass up some good deals but its worth the peace of mind.

Good point.
