1-7 or preferably tighter. 338 barrel blank options

Building a .338-223 straight short ar15. I’ll be going 14.5" with pistol length gas system, 0.125 gas port, adjustable gas block, reflex supresser and building loads from the ground up sub sonic 300gr and 250gr only.

We would love to find some one who will drill the gas port cut the chamber and install the barrel extension, but that is pretty unlikely.

Pac-nor does a 3 groove 1 n 6 but I’m thinking their 5 groove 1 n 6.50 might be a better bet.

I guess the real question is do you guys have any suggestions on shops that can turn, chamber, drill and install the extension?

We have a lathe so we can turn it but if we’re paying to have the chamber cut and the extension installed why not have it all done at once?

I know there is a company that was or is building a straight pull they call the 338 thumper but they will not to my knowledge sell just the barrel and even if they did we have a very specific barrel profile in mind.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can make the barrel for you… I don’t have that reamer, will have to check on getting it in - but other than that it is a simple job. Shoot me a message.

BTW: I assume you have already checked out the 338 Spectre ?

We have looked into Spector. But not for this project.

Sticking with a .223/5.56 case allows us some interesting options for future builds.

I will email you with questions.

Thank you
