Volund plus one.
Cap’nDooley, sorry I dropped out of the thread. The 030 is adequate but not awesome as a stand-alone gunbelt. My final arrangement is satisfactory for now but I have the idea that toward the end of the season I’ll be looking for something stouter.
plus another.
I’ll be honest, I have no clue exactly how to run a belt properly. I have a 1.5" 5.11 tactical belt that I don’t know what to do with it. Do I go through the loops? Do I wear it on the outside. I just decided to be honest, laugh away I have never had a need for one until recently.
WW, no worries brother! The nice thing about a 1.5 option is that you can try different methods for cheap. My Volund is my everyday belt. I added Velcro to try it as a “battle belt”, really just so I could place gear without my pants’ belt loops getting in the way. I got the USGG Velcro belt to run through the belt loops then wear the Volund over the belt loops. It worked well and was secure.
I changed my gear carriage around a little and the next carbine class just used my Volund through my belts loops like normal. It worked better (for me). I use Ready Tactical mag pouches because my realistic “layering” would have me grabbing a rifle mag on the go and attaching to my EDC carry (citizen only, not LEO and no longer mil).
Therefore, I have since stopped using the USGG under belt but I was only out like $20 ($15 for the USGG belt and $5 for adding Velcro to my Volund).
I used an ICE battle belt briefly, well made and stayed put, but my pants didnt really stay put underneath.
I did not really find a ready product for what I exactly wanted, so I had a local tailor shop make basically a thinner version of the IPSC type outer belts and in MC color.
Material is 1000D Multicam with a plastic stiffener inside.
Manufactured by the same local sewing company that makes our heat / mirage covers.

It weighs 110 grams /3.88 oz.
I have now used it in regional reserve 3-gun matches and in the Finnish Reserve 3-gun championships.
It has perfectly filled the purpose and requirement I had for it.
I attached two molle drop panels to the support side ( made by LF.net member jma87 / CDH-Tac Finland ) for pistol and rifle mag pouches
If I would have the need to switch pouches ( different calibre, other pouch types ) it would be really easy and fast with the separate panels.
