1.5" Belt Options (Inner / Outer)

I have had a DSG Arms 1.5" Competition Belt on back-order for 4+ months now with DSG unable to give me an ETA. As an alternative I was looking at the Jones Tactical 1.5" Shooters Belt w/ the velcro option, but based on the other thread that was locked, they have an incredibly long wait time as well.

Does anyone make a quality 1.5" belt with velcro that attaches to an inner belt and a cobra buckle that ships in a reasonable amount of time?

Or if my only real option is to wait, who makes the belt that is most worth the long wait?

Check with Volund Gearworks.

This is what I did. Volund doesn’t have velcro as an option but added it when I asked. Cost a nominal extra… maybe $5. Still got it in less than a week, iirc.

I already had a hook velcro underbelt; my request for a Volund with loop velcro added to the back matched rackham’s experience.

They create gear outright, so I’d be shocked if they were unable to come up with both an under- and over-belt setup for you, and with a quickness.

If you go that route, I’d suggest NOT having loop velcro put on the leading 4-6" or so of an Atlas or Atlas Cobra belt; I had trouble fighting with the velcro (the two halves would want to make babies before I was done snugging the overbelt completely), so I got rid of the loop velcro on the “male” part of the belt that goes through the loop that retains the excess tail. Not a ding on Volund, they gave me precisely what I’d asked for, I just didn’t quite ask for the right thing.

I’m kind of new to these types of belts, but I just got my OSOE belt and I’m digging it:

I got a non-common buckle color (foliage) so the belt was made to order. 10 days later i had it at my door.

Awesome everyone, this is -exactly- what I was looking for!

I love my Atlas belt from Volund Gearworks. It’s 2 years old, used six days a week, and looks almost new.

He’ll hook you up.

Timely question as I was just in the market too. For several weeks a year I hang a bunch of stuff on my belt for classes and my approach has always been minimalist and economy, in other words I don’t upgrade my gear every time something new comes out. Anyway who likes the “brand new” look when you can have the “been around the block a few times” look?

Been wanting for a while, the ability to take all the gear off and put it back on without a bunch of hassle which it currently is.

As I had just got a discount card from Safariland, I ordered the Bianchi ErgoTek 7225 belt and Safariland 030 under belt. Kinda mixing and matching but sounds like it ought to work. Got he Bianchi today but goofup on my part, had to reorder the 030 Safariland. The Bianchi belt is 2 1/2 wide, thick and padded. At that width it will accept everything I wear in class except my IWB holster which will be worn in standard fashion using the 030 belt, and anyway that’s not a “take it off to go for lunch” item. And neither is expensive, together they were like $75.

This summer a student had one much like the Bianchi but as I recall it had a 1 1/2" belt running outside it so if you had gear with narrower loops you could put them there; wider loop, put it on the wider part. Think t was a Blackhawk product.

Well my mix and match combo did not work, the Bianchi 7225 is loop on the inside and the Safariland 030 is loop on the outside… so I ordered the thing I should have to start, the Bianchi inner belt with hook on the outside.

I did have one piece of gear that would not work with the 7225, my Raven Concealment mag carrier, but I just made some bigger loops from old belts and now all’s well.

Got the Bianchi 8105 inner belt today and I guess it might work but it’s half the belt the Safariland 030 was… the 030 had a Kydex inner body that made it a real gunbelt unto itself-- the Bianchi lacks it and is kinda wimpy by comparison. But for $19 I’ll give it a try… and keep my eye peeled for something else or maybe I’ll glue/rivet the thing to another belt.

The other thing is, with the inner belt having a Velcro closure in place of a regular buckle, one lacks the leverage and yankability to get it good and tight.

The other, other thing is that with all the crap on the new 2 1/2 gear belt, much of the loop lining is covered so “stickable square inches” are minimal but seem adequate.

Ned - to clarify, will the Safariland 030 hold up a pistol and reload on it’s own? I’m actually looking to use an inner/outer belt setup for when I’m wearing a kilt as I have yet to find a kilt belt that can actually hold up a gun and I’ve found even fewer attachments for holsters that go up to 2.5"

Who makes an inner belt with hook Velcro?

I ordered a First Spear AGB to replace the outer I was issued, and am not happy with, but all of my inner belts have loop and so does the AGB.

Jones Tactical belts are great. I have a setup for my war belt and it is built like a tank and has lasted several years and just a few trips.

If you can get one…

Like the others have said, contact Volund. Super fast turn around times and they will quickly made just about any mod you want for a nominal fee.

I can…

I have never had any issue with Jones Tactical and I have been dealing with him for many years now.

US Grunt Gear. I have one and it’s fine. It’s what I use under my volund atlas with loop velcro mentioned above.

My atlas is 1.5" but the USGG inner belt is 1.75". Don’t stress it, I don’t notice.

Over the past 6 months I’ve bought two different kydex and cobra belt rigs to do some experimenting to see which I liked best. I bought the HTC Tactical Corbra Belt which is a 1.75" belt (http://highthreatconcealment.com/products/belts/htc-tactical-cobra-belt-old.html) that comes with an inner belt and also a 1.5" KT Cobra Gun Belt (http://www.kt-mech.com/03Parts_gunbelt.html). At the time I ordered the KT I requested the hook added to the belt and mated it with an older loop side inner belt I had. I see that KT has now added an inner belt to their products.
I’m using the holsters / pouches from each company with their matched belt.

For an outer belt I have been using the First Spear Assaulters Gun Belt…solid kit that will mate up with any inner belt you find.

Check out High Threat Concealment for another option on the inner/outer combo with Cobra buckle. The owner is a former co-worker of mine so I will endorse his products. I am issued one of his belts currently and really like it. I have the entire HTC kit that he offers on the website. It’s good quality gear and he stands behind it.

Edit I just realized beach boy above has already mentioned HTC. Either way, I stand by what I said about the quality.
