The 16" BCM lightweight midlength upper that was supposed to be a 6720 complete upper from G&R. Couldn't stand having an empty lower and figured I'd get by since anything 16" lightweight AND carbine gas went extinct last month.

Messing with My Macro Again...
Crank down that aperture as low as it will go and get some hard angles. Makes for some really nice, unique photos. I had both Canon and Nikon macros.
Oh, and make your point of focus in one of the intersecting lines if you were to draw a tic tac toe board on your viewfinder.
I'm not trying to imply you don't know what you're doing in any way, just mentioning what I used to do.

There's something about the blend of simplicity, functionality, light weight and clean (snag free) lines that I find very appealling about this configuration.
Current weight is 6.5 pounds unloaded and as expected, is a joy to carry and shoot. Since I'm doing well with the iron sights, I'm truly on the fence about putting an optic on this one...

When i am standing ot kneeling, i like the regular grip, but when sitting or prone, i do better with my are more extended out, and the other grip is comfortable for that. Both grips feel natural, guess i like variety. :)

Thanks, I love a classic gun. I take the 20" out usually once a month and sling some rounds downrange. Nothing like it. No one knows what a smooth shooter is until they shoot a rifle-length gas.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj307/Magicman710/photoshop4.jpg
Went out to the indoor range today (25 yrd max) and shot my new S&W M&P 15 OR today. I put about 330 rounds through it in about two hours. I started out at 20 feet to get a feel for where it was hitting. I put all my shots in the size of a half dollar. I was amazed at the accuracy of this rifle. I slowly started moving back until I got to 25 yards. After adjusting my red dot a few times, I called it good. I started practicing shooting off hand. Except for my Mossberg 590, I've not done much shooting with rifle or pistol in many, many years. So when I shot the following group I was really surprised! This appears to be a tack driver IF I do my part.
ETA: When I first got it, I broke it down and cleaned it. After reading all the threads on lube, I decided to try Amsoil 5W-30 and Riggs gun grease that I had laying around. The internals are still nice and "wet" after 330 rounds.

Sounds like you found a good lube.

Nope, its just a MOE rail section (the shortest one, I believe) with the Streamlight mounted straight on it. Its not the best setup, and a pressure pad would be nice, but I still can reach it with my middle finger from under the handguard and if I reach far enough with my thumb from the top.

Do you build them or load them? From my understanding Ammo builds Weapons loads. I was on B1s and the guys that loaded them called themselves Weapons and they were some of the most umm well I want to be nice so I won't say it because we all do our part.
Yeah we build them and the other guys load em

Werd. Nice rifles btw.
Simple and clean. I personaly would move the aimpoint to the forward most position possable on the upper. I had my M4 set up almost identical to that in Iraq.
Yeah I'm moving the aimpoint as soon as I get a chance to rezero it.
Did you run a BAD and surefire g2 too? Neither of those were issued items, lol.
I'm having a great time just looking at how people set up their m4s here. A lot of people mount their flashlights at 6 o'clock, many run their grip pods all the way back, and some take off their buis or their aimpoint to save weight.

No I have never even seen a bad leaver and I didnt run a light we stayed out at night a lot. We got thouse M4 sights from RFI just prior to grean ramp. Make sure you tighten the mount screws and add some locktight or nail polish. The screws were loose on every sight we were issued new from the box.
I ran that aimpoint a lot great sight. I have one on the m4 clone I built. Whats your branch?

Colt 6920MP, purchased from RAT WORX USA (http://www.ratworxusa.com/pagDetail.aspx?SKU=RW-Colt-LE-6920-MP). Getting shipped to NOVA Armament.
This will be my first rifle, and I selected it because of the brand reputation (with emphasis on construction, assembly and reliability) and value. Many respected voices on this forum have sung the praises of the 6920, so I figured it will be the best place to start.
Admittedly, part of my reason for purchasing this firearm at this time is a quasi-fear of a second-term Obama.
The larger reason is so that I can bond further with my FIL. I'm looking forward to taking a carbine class with it sometime in 2013 :)

Great beer! I really like the rail so far. It replaced a DD LITE 14.0. I like how the RIS II doesn't have the "belly" on it. Feels much better in my hand. I'll have to get out and shoot it some, but overall it seems better.

Sure it looks heavy, it's a digital picture on a screen. But trust me it's not all that heavy. A PEQ-15 and a Surefire flashlight isn't adding pounds, we're talking mere ounces. The hand guard is polymer so it's actually lighter than a KAC rail. And as for the heat shield part of the comment, insight doesn't make a product where heat would be an issue.

My first AR, and a major transition from the rifles I usually buy. It's a SIG M400 Enhanced with some very minor mods. I really like the Rock River stand-alone A2 rear sight. The build quality is excellent and it fits snug on the rifle. I received some very negative comments on another forum about the overall quality of the rifle, however, I've had very good luck with it so far. Seems pretty solid.

We call that the "Blues Mobile".
"Cop motor, Cop shocks...."
Its a buddy of mine that runs that store. He and I take it to the range twice a week and shoot all over and under it.
You know how you park under a tree and leaves get all crammed in the cowl, weather stripping and every other nook and cranny.....

Why is your front sight so far back?
I haven't shot it yet. I am waiting on optics then I will put everything in place. I also read that the polymer might melt if over the gas block but when everything gets here ill straighten it out. I was going to resarch that more. Any sugestions are allways welcome.

I want to say hello to everyone on M4Carbine & thank you as this forum is a wealth of information. I have been lurking on the forums for years and originally cared nothing for AR's only lurking in the Handgun section. Then one day I made the foolish mistake of looking at the AR Picture thread and caught the bug...so here I am now finally the proud owner of an AR. I took my time scouring the forums for information on what to get. I looked at the AR Brand Comparison Chart over and over(Thank you Rob_s) and countless threads on what stock, mags, sights, optics, ammo etc, etc, etc. Thank you all and now on to my first buying experience.
The upper...
I new I wanted a BCM, after looking it over I thought it was by far the best value and top notch quality. I finally decided on the 16" over getting a 14.5" pinned thanks to the advice of several people on the forums to stay away from a pinned flash hider especially on your first AR since you don't know what you do and don't like yet. I went for the lightweight barrel and the light weight VTAC TRX 11". I ordered from BCM on Saturday and got a shipping notice on Monday! How is that for quick service. A week later I had my upper at my front door with the BCM BCG, Gunfighter charging handle, and fixed troy front sight. The extra goodies like the BCM hat, magazine, and posters were just icing on the cake. Its the little things that push a company over the top as their are a lot of choices on who to order from. Thank you BCM for making a quality product!

The Lower...
Originally I wanted a DD lower but DD stopped selling separate lowers so I was going to go with a blemished lower built by Grant at G&R Tactical. However he was out of stock and I was doing my best to patiently wait but stumbled upon a thread about the Rainier Arms Lowers and saw they had the big feature I wanted in the DD lowers, the flared magwell. I ordered Grant's last lower in-stock(sorry) and selected the parts I wanted for the build. I received the lower today and it looks like its top quality. Thank you to Grant & G&R Tactical answering by noobish questions(whats a FCG?) and delivering a top quality product

I have an Aimpoint H-1 on order from Larue with a LT660 mount. Now to just clean and lube the thing and take it out and put a couple hundred rounds of M855 to break it in. I'll post more after this weekend on how she does.:dance3:

nice boomstick! That's almost exactly what I'm looking at for my first AR except I haven't decided on 14.5 vs 16 for the barrel, I'm in the army so I have used a number of different rifle setups. I can't find any rainier lowers anywhere though so I am stuck for waiting for now :( So I'm unsure whether I should just buy a Colt 6720 or hold out until I can get a rainier lower and find a lpk for it.
Anyways, looks great, let us know how it shoots!

Sorry for the poor photo quality...anyway its a doublestar DS4 carbine with a quadrail, nikon p-223 scope wi mount. Plan to upgrade the trigger (maybe to a trimney) and change that foregrip to a grippod.
Next gun is a glock 17 or a 1911 with a tatical light.

2) BCM 14.5 Carbine upper with perm attached A2X, Comp ML3 (2 MOA), Daniel Defense RIIS II FSP rail; New Frontier Armory lower
3) Daniel Defense 16 Mid-Length, MFR 12.0 rail, Bobro Mount and Burris M-TAC; Henderson Defense billet lower (another local store)

What is the purpose of the rifle, (what are you planning to do with it?)?
Why did you choose the parts that you did?
What is your experience with the AR platform?
Is the muzzle device pinned or did you SBR the lower?
Are you planning on running a can?
Why are you getting troy micro sights? they are designed for guns with an elevated rail and this will stop you from co witnessing as the sights are shorter.

The rifle is intended to be a lightweight build that's comfortable carry around at the ranch for a few hours at a time. Lots of hogs down here in Texas. My previous AR was too heavy and I didn't need all the rails, which just chewed up everything I put the rifle down on as well. My initial plan was to build a 300 blackout sbr but i wanted to put a few hundred rounds through the lower before i sent in the form 1. Then it kind of evolved into more than i was expecting. So once i get the lower all okayed, ill send in the form 1, and then get the blackout upper. The FH is pinned to the barrel obviously right now. I'll then get a second lower for this upper. I'm still waiting on my AAC SDN-6 can's stamp as well.
Thanks for the info on the micro sights. I wasnt aware they were lower, just thought they were thinner. Any other recommendations for a low profile set of sights? I want the ability to have them sit under other optics such as a PVS-14 or trijicon 1-4x accupoint.

Thanks for the detailed response.
The standard Troys should fit fine under the Trijicon.
They are pretty low profile.
Happy hog hunting.
Looks like a fine build.

Hey Cameron, any rattle on that MOE stock or does it lock up solid? I'm building a truck gun right now and am considering a MOE but since it's going to be secured overhead I don't want a rattle trap.
No more BCM SPR in the mix Cameron?
No, it was just too close in performance to the 16" Recce, so I sold it and will be replacing it with an 18" LMT MWS in7.62x51mm.

Actually that stock is a Magpul CTR not the MOE and you would think that the CTR with the friction lock would fit nice and snug on a BCM mil spec extension, unfortunately even with the CTR friction lock it still rattles.

Cameron
Yeah, it is. I didn't look close enough and had MOE on the mind I guess. If that rattles then that doesn't bode well for a MOE either. I have a ACS on it currently so maybe I'll just leave that. I was thinking on this one I could save some bucks and weight with either a MOE or CTR. I don't even need the storage of the ACS on this rifle.

The upper in the first 2 is a DD LW 14.5" mid with a permed BC 1.5 and TRX-E. The 2nd upper is a 16" centurion with a surefire 215 and TRX Alpha. I could afford to keep everything, but would rather sell one upper and optic, buy some ammo, and save the rest. Such a hard life I live.
This is my BCM AR-15 16 inch Middy BHF upper on a spikes lower. I am saving for an aimpoint and possibly a Free Float HG (Although my midwest industries drop in is rock solid). Please excuse the poor picture quality.:D
