Sionics Weapon Systems - local to AZ

Noticed these guys popped up on the new version of robs chart. A quick glance at specs there and on the companies site they look pretty good, with a decent price point.

I like to buy local whenever I can, for economic reasons, as well as the ability to drive down to HQ etc.

Arizona has had some companies come and go. I liked ADC's stuff but don't know what going on there... Sundevil etc.

Just curious if anyone has real experience with Sionics. I'm in Phoenix area and they are down in Tucson, not a terrible drive, but thought I would ask around here first.

There was a write up in a gun rag about them a little while back. I may see about making a visit when I go home on R/R in September.

The article made my spider sense tingle a little.

They seem to operate (at least retail?) out of The Armory on Pima next to 2nd Amendment (formerly Jensen's). I went in the other day looking for a Vltor A5 kit and they were all wearing Sionics T-shirts and had a camo and logo painted truck outside.

Fit and finish on the lower I finger banged looked fine but we all know how that goes. Maybe if I got one for super cheap I'd build a rifle on the components but right now I don't see anything that I can't get from BCM, Colt, or DD in a GP rifle, or Noveske in a more precision build.

The "Press" tab on their website that opens up to a 16" carbine with an Atlas bipod and an EoTech makes me chuckle though.
I'm not cool. I just do this stuff for fun.

I have a Sionics complete lower mated to my BCM upper. Price was right, came with MOE parts on it, a PMAG, and has a staked castle nut. As far as the LPK I asked and they originally had DD LPK's in the lowers but now use someone else. Who that may be I do not know as the sales kid wouldn't say. My only gripe so far is I wish it had a "Safe-Fire" on it instead of the bullet pictograms that are there. The quality of the lower is good and is a nice dark black. I bought it because it's a local company and I'm willing to support the local guy first.

Spec and price-wise they look good.

It's nice to see new manufs pay attention to steels and finishes and testing.

My thoughts exactly. All things being equal (or close) I like to buy local. It looks like a solid product at a fair price, just looking to see if anyone can corroborate those specs. Thanks to all who posted so far.

Call up The Armory here in Tucson and ask them. They seem like nice guys, see if you can get them to send you some documentation.

I've resisted shopping locally in Tucson for anything firearms related. Almost everything is ridiculously overpriced except for the ammo at Walmart.

I met a good guy, at a EAG class, who is a local FFL that I will continue to go to for my firearms needs, but he is a online dealer and not the typical brick and mortar shop.

That said, I've done much less looking at AR stuff this past year, preferring to spend more time on shooting/training instead. Now that I've found my ideal AR setups I'll hopefully waste less money on widgets.
