I've been lusting after the SCAR heavy since I first got a look at one a year or two back and have decided to bite the bullet and cut the check.

I'd like a 17s in FDE. Anyone got a line on best prices and availability? Looks like slim pickings on GunBroker (and the prices are a tad steep). I know how to do a Google search but I always prefer a recommendation to a reputable dealer as opposed to buying a pig in a poke from an anonymous slick website.

The best price that I have seen for them is around $2,500 or so.

Unfortunately FN did a 9% price increase about a month or so ago. So you can expect it to be around $2,700 now for a "good" price.

    That is my experience anyway.

Only SCAR 17S that I saw for $2500 were blemished models from HK Specialist - they are now sold out. All the dealers that have them listed for $2700 are also sold out, with no ETA on when they are getting more.

People who have them in stock are selling them for $3000+; I ended up paying $3250 for mine in CA where there was only one in stock 200 miles around me and no online dealers with better prices would modify a weapon to be CA legal and ship it here.

I could have picked one up two weeks ago for $2500 in central PA. He sold it and I am saving for SR25

Sturmgewehre reviews the SCAR 17 on youtube. Shoots about a 1 MOA group at 100 yards using 168gr FGMM. Damn. I am impressed.

    I'm Sturmgewehre from YouTube.

Yup, the 17S was shooting consistent 1" 100 yard groups that day with a 4x32 ACOG. Black Hills 175gr loads weren't showing any love though, they wouldn't do any better than 2.5". But FGMM was consistent and impressive.

I've ordered a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x50 today with a Larue 104 quick detach mount. I should get it mounted up next week sometime and do a review of the optic on the SCAR along with some more accuracy tests. I'm hoping with a more powerful optic I can whittle the group size down to 3/4" or so. If I can do that, I'll be quite pleased with the SCAR's performance. Heck, I'm pleased even with 1" at 100 yards.

If only it had a better trigger.

I think it can do a little better, but we'll see.

geissele now has a trigger out for em, which i am anxious to test. i couldn't get the scarH to group better then 2" or so with m118 which is all i have access to at the moment. but we were also seeing wandering POI. I think the system has a LOT of potential but definately having teething issues both with support from FN and the aftermarket, magpul does have a SCAR17 mag in the works.

Are you seeing them POI shift with multiple rifles? Have you checked the torque on the barrel bolts (62 inch/lbs)? I haven't seen that yet, and I hope I don't.
