    Glock 21

There's a discussion on the G-21 going on on another site. It was brought up that the Glock 21 was derived from the 10mm Glock 20, which uses a much higher pressure cartridge. One fellow described the G-21 as "the most overbuilt .45 on the market".

Not sure if that's accurate when guns like the HK 45 are brought up, but does anybody have any ideas as to the average longevity of the G-21 when compared to other .45's?

On the G21, they had to remove some material from the slide to lighten it, so it would function with lower pressure .45 ammo.

The G20 on the other hand was designed to handle the full power 10mm.

    Glock 21

I've had my 21 since 2003, and I have just over 52,000 rounds through it. In that time I've had 1 malfunction, a failure to go fully into battery. The gun was part of my Departments original T&E, so I went the whole first year without cleaning it, only applying lube every week. The only parts replaced were the cruciform and trigger bar (Department mandated upgrades) and the recoil spring (every 2000 rounds-and the cause of the only malfunction).

I think the G21 is an excellent gun. I think it can take more abuse than other guns.

As far as actual round count, I think any of the major brands will survive as many rounds as I will put through them.

Normal, 45ACP is easy on a G21. Where you get issues is when you push HOT 45Super through them. I have beaten one of my G21s to death. This being said, I would have killed other guns also, so....
One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine.

I have a G21. I don't have many rounds through it. But I know damn well that I can hit what I am aiming for. I keep it as my "office gun" with an X300. I think it's an excellent weapon and I trust my life to it.

That and I like large framed 45's.

I ran 500rds through my G21SF when I first got it and no problems what so ever. This was with Fiocchi FMJ ammo and Federal HST. I like the G21SF, since I don't shoot or carry anything other than .45
