    Charles Daly LE M4 (review)

The good folks at CD sent me one of their LE M4's for T&E. I had already handled this weapon at the Shot Show and was impressed with it.

Here are the specs on it:

    1. 1/7 twist
    2. 5.56 NATO Chamber
    3. Chrome Lined
    4. M4 barrel extension
    5. M4 Upper receiver
    6. Mil-spec Receiver Extension
    7. Staked castle nut
    8. Staked Gas key
    9. Black extractor insert
    10. Crane O-Ring
    11. F marked FSB
    12. H buffer
    13. M4 double heat shield hand guards
    14. 4150 barrel steel

One of the more impressive things about this weapon is the magazine. Yes I said the magazine. When you purchase a complete AR from CD, you receive ad USGI Mag with a Magpul Anti-Tilt follower. This might not seem like a big deal, but it is the little things that seperate one manufacturer from another.

I will shoot it for groups soon and report back what I find. In the mean time, here are some pics.

    Cool

Nice! The 1/7 twist barrel should be a big hit!

Feature-wise someone appears to have done homework on what specs professional end-users seem to want in an AR platform. When I saw the properly staked gas key I started looking at the rest of the pics a little closer. With the exception of MPI'd barrels and bolts it appears on the surface to have a lot going for it.

    Where are these made?

I'm looking forward to the end results of some testing to see how well they hold up. Someone from CD should get a hold of Pat Rogers and ask him to wring a couple out.

They did do their research (a lot of it here). Their bolts and barrels are batch MP tested (by the way).

Looks good. Out the gate they are past most of the AR15 makers out there.

They would be more on the left side of the chart than the right, and that is a very good start

Wow, lets just say that I'm pleasantly surprised.

It looks like we have another viable AR manufacturer to choose from.

It would be nice to see them make factory registered NFA guns and middys to that spec.

whats amazing to me is a company that comes out with a rifle like this getting started. as other companies may still be trying to put out a rifle like this who have been building rifles.
