I wouldn't go that far. I think Holosun has proven themselves to at least be a good light duty optic for home defense or LE work. They have ruggedized "Mil-Spec" versions as well. Are we at the point where red dots are like LCD TVs where they're a mature, reliable and ubiquitous technology?

I think so. Holosun, Sig and vortex’s make good RDS optics for cheap. If you have one Aimpoint on a duty gun, no reason to spend $500+ on another aimpoint. A fellow member here who owns multiple RMR’ SRO’s.. suggested I buy a Holosun407 for my Sig Legion handgun. Has worked great. No regrets. I bought because it’s just as good at a fraction of the price.

I've heard it said that a cheapo optic in 2020 is not the same as a cheapo optic of, say, 10 or 15 years ago. Guess manufacturing technology has brought up overall quality, although there's still a lot of junk out there.

I like LMT's MLOK upper generally speaking, but it seems like it kinda of defeats one of its own purposes with the fact that the barrel is not easily removable unless you remove the accessories from the slots. Especially when the older MRP didn't have that issue.

The tradeoff is having the greatest feeling handguard in the hand I've felt to date + all the myriad of other gained benefits going with a one piece 7075 chassis for an upper.

The MLR and MLC feels so amazing in the hands. I would hate for them to change the profile to account for barrel changes with MLOK kit still installed.

That being said, I have a couple of Sig Romeo 4Ts and they are very impressive sights. Very rugged and well built. I love the reticle that features not only a red dot, but also a "circle of death: a la EoTech. I own a bunch of MROs and APs as well, but I have to say I really like these 4Ts.
