Like you said, though, when shooting from reaction or support side, its going to compound the sideways push for that side. May or may not really be a concern, thou, depending what your needs and purposes for the gun are.
I initially under-timed mine because my crush washer wanted to stop there (plus some comps work best when slightly under-timed). This did not work well with the BC.

My first "perception" was considerable jump to the right, however, I think from the under-timed install it was actually pushing left and I was over correcting to the right before the second shot.

I re-timed to TDC, changed to a high thumb grip on the forearm and it seems to be GTG. It's now pretty easy to keep everything in the A zone with multiple taps from 10 - 15 Yds.

    Gents,
I believe what you may be feeling is the induced torque caused by bullet spin. In a typical application this effect is buried in the "noise" of the muzzle rise, recoil, etc, so one doesn't notice the effect as much. Remove or lessen these other reactions and what remains is this torque effect. As I understand it, this is easily mitigated with a solid hold and/or technique adjustment as mentioned by shootist. Unlike a very directional AK style comp, the BattleComp is designed for even gas flow dispersion around the radius of the comp. Under or over timing should not have as pronounced an effect as with a directional comp.

    Very nice

Have 1200 rounds through the BC and all I can say is "awesome". Works very well on a BCM 11.5 SBR setup with H2 buffer. Can't wait for the 1.5 version, to put on a 14.5 middy build, just as soon as mid length pencil uppers are available from Grant.

    Cheers!

Just shot a CFDCC event with the BC1.0 on my DDM4. The vast improvement in my shooting from the past event to this one is a testament to the the BC.

It was the only change I made to my rifle since the last event, and I was floored at how much better I shot? Red dot stayed on target and follow up shots were on point. Out of 125-150 shots at the event, I only had 2 shots that were just barely too low to be a head shot and hit in the neck. (messed up my hold over) Everything else was clean! And I owe it to the BC.

I wasn't sure before if it was making that big of a difference, but after today....I am a raving Fan!

Which of these are we more likely to see after the 7.62 and 6.8 versions:

Our current schedule is to have the 1.5 version completed in the next few days. Then we will be working on the GemTech Halo compatible version. After that, future development paths will be determined by the CEO, Captain Nick and all of you.

Sorry folks, I had a couple other uppers come in that took precedence. I finally got my sorry butt over to the range to try out the BattleComp with the 7.5" barrel 6.8 SPC. All I can say is, would you take it the wrong way if I tried to leg hump you guys?

The muzzle flash was not really noticeable with the Hornady TAP ammo which I was expecting. It was more noticeable with the SSA standard loads and quite noticeable with the Tactical loads. The folks in the next lane were shooting an 8.5" 5.56. They said the 6.8 SPC with the BattleComp mounted was nowhere near as loud as the 5.56, nor was the flash at all objectionable.

The reason I picked this up was I was having some difficulty keeping it steady for double taps. The rifle is so light it tended to recoil violently. Well, I'm happy to say that with the BattleComp mounted it was a thing of pure beauty. Recoil was straight back, sights barely moved from the firing position. My double taps were hitting within an inch of each other at about 15 yards. So, to sum up my experience, pretty much flawless perfection from my point of view.

Thanks, I now need another for a 12.5" I have...

Glad you like it! (And you'd better be buying LOTS of drinks before you think about any leg humping! LOL)

Yes, when your barrel gets significantly below 14" it becomes a real challenge to control flash with just a compensator, even ours. Still, much of your defensive posture can be assisted with good ammunition selection, but it sounds like you knew all of that going into this.

FWIW, that little thing must've been throwing flames with just a thread protector on it! It still cracks me up that your optic is almost as long as the barrel...

Good to know it worked well for you! I am building my own 6.8, so we don't have to borrow Doc's all the time. I am very much looking forward to it. Got a little help from Barrett and Daniel Defense on this one...

    Have a great week.

    Best,
    Alan

I can't go through the 37 pages of posts here, but I'm wondering if the legality of this device in the ban states has come up. Would it be legal in CT, which bans "flash hiders"?
