Thank you.

I bought weapon in Pistol configuration and added components / accoutrements / de rigueur (i.e. T-1, LT660HK mount, Troy HK flip up BUIS, M600C ) I prefer.

It looks great. I got a 6.8 spc but it's a rifle configuration. Just wondering how is it in pistiol configuration? Is it controllable or can you really feel the difference?

Check.

The ONLY differences regarding PSD to Pistol configuration is the proprietary Gunsmoke Ind. Recoil hardware on receiver that LWRC uses.

6.8 SPC pistol uses same recoil components as the 5.56 mm pistol.

Regarding the recoil, my opinion & tactile perception is this. It feels similar to a 5.56 mm recoil w/ a slight umph w/ a fairly intense blast impulse

Definetly less than my Noveske N6's which are to me very manageable.



There are several different ways to mount and shoot it.

There is an SAS method used on the MP5's using sling tension that works fairly well if you practice it.

There is a cheek weld method that works well. Make sure to exhale as you breath, clinch your jawline and relax.

An IPSC style pistol shooting method that works OK, but not my favorite for accuracy and distances beyond 50 yds or so.

Hoploethos thanks for the info. But I think I'll just stick with my original plan of 5.56 build. I enjoy shooting my 6.8 SPC but with ammo being hard to find and getting too expensive it might be a good idea to stick with 5.56 mm. Maybe 6.8 spc in pistol configuration some other time.

No problemo amigo.


Be ADVISED the 5.56 in a SBR/Pistol role (under 10") does NOT have sufficient velocity/energy to be considered efficacious. Fragmentation will also be an issue.


I'll spend the $2.00 a round to save someone's life in a AOP for real considering what I make for real.


AS far as a plinking round / training round, definitly not financially viable imo.

Hopeleotos thanks for the advise. I'm not really worried about fragmentation issues at this time since this is design for a non moving paper target .

I've been reading some of the topics in here about 7.5" AR pistol and majority agree that this is mostly a toy/ range gun. I also read this article 2 days ago I think it's on SWAT magazine. They got an article in there about Troy m7a1, it's their new 7.5" SBR. What really interest me in there was the test he did with level III vest at 50 yards.

Yes it did well. The author said he shot 4 rounds and all went thru the vest with trauma plate.

Hopeloetos I've seen this before. Like what I said before I also own a 6.8 SPC in carbine version. I've been a fan of 6.8 SPC when Barrett first showed it. To be honest I shoot more 6.8 than my 5.56 when I go to the range. The pistol I'm building is gonna be a range toy so I guess 5.56 will be enough.

I wouldn't jump in to a conclusion that 5.56 is not a good caliber. Any trained operator knows the capability of 5.56 and they definately won't use cheap ammo when it comes to protection detail.

I like the video of future weapons. It would have been realistic if the SUV drove off right away instead of sitting idle while the rest of the protection details is shooting it out.

Not sure why they didn't Get O X when AOP went down either, I would have....

I don't know either. Maybe because the show was geared in to showing how effective the 6.8 SPC compared to 5.56 mm. I still wouldn't doubt the effectiveness of 5.56mm even with a level III vest with trauma plate. I wouldn't get caught toe to toe with someone firing a 5.56mm in full auto. I know I 'm lucky but I'm not Superman
