    AR15A3 Markings

Picked this one up from Cabelas yesterday and I normally cleanse the dept. markings off these rifles with a bit of acetone.

This one is marked with the officers name, which has given me pause to poll the collective here to see if you'd clean it off or leave it? I am leaning toward cleaning it off.

I'd probably remove the name. The rack number I could leave.

    I'd clean them both off.

Here's an alternate option: just throw a different buttstock on it.

Yeah, that is one thing I don't have a spare of......Great alternative however, maybe I'll pick one up. Still leaning toward removing both however.

ETA: I walked by the can of acetone in the garage and brought it down to my cleaning space. The markings are now gone.

There is no way in the world I would want a LEO rifle with a LEO name, so that some ignorant rookie thinks I stole it or something. After all, it has the owners name on it, and it isn't you.

ETA- If the name is still visible, I'll trade you for the same stock without any names or markings.

Board policy mandates I state that I shoot for BCM. I have also done work for 200 or so manufacturers within the firearm community. I am prior service, a full time LEO, firearm instructor, armorer, TL, martial arts instructor, and all around good guy.

I also shoot and write for various publications. Let me know if you know cool secrets or have toys worthy of an article...

Sorry Stick, the name is completely gone. But appreciate your kind offer regardless. I hadn't even thought about the point you made, which is absolutely valid.

So using reverse LEO logic, I'm grabbing a paint pen and writing my name on my stock, that way any LEO who comes along knows "I'm part of the team."

Gonna also add a rack number on some cryptic agency code.
