So you are positive brass (maybe hitting with the sharp edge considering the weird location of the ding) cannot chip a little bit of aluminum off?
I believe you, I said it was hard to tell from the picture. I guess that was just a load of oil and not a bad spray paint job. Regardless, it will still shoot.

Brass is soft and will generally only leave a brass scuff that will usually wipe off with some oil. Also usually not behind the deflector like in your picture.

It won't stay pristine forever, so go out and shoot it some more.
